Senior Principal Electronics Engineer - Hardware Architect

with a focus on hardware architecture, COTS software solutions, network engineering, and Information Technology (IT) systems engineering.The candidate will develop and maintain detailed system architecture documentation for complex IT systems. The candidate will function as an interface between Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) team and the Hardware Infrastructure team. The candidate will utilize the Deficiency Report (DR) in accordance with the Software Review Board (SRB) process to determine hardware content for Agile Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) releases. The candidate will recommend design improvements via the Change Request (CR) process.In addition to the architecture duties, the candidate may also be called upon to oversee upgrading lab asset hardware to the latest IFCs.The candidate will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment working closely with other Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) in a lab and production environment.Candidate should have good coordination, communications, planning, organization, and interpersonal skills. Travel may be required.Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Collaborating with other engineers to architect a system to meet design requirements and stakeholder needs.Developing and releasing engineering documentation for detailed system architecture and requirements.Reviewing support requests from the field and providing troubleshooting steps and/or creating DRs to provide solutions in a future IFCCreating and managing hardware DRs via the SRB processCreating and managing CRsReviewing drawings and system build instructionsCoordinating teams to upgrade lab systems to the latest IFCDeveloping internal software tools to improve process of organizing, documenting, and visualizing information.The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position.Basic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 8 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline with 3 years of related engineering experience.Experience with systems engineering practicesExperience with Microsoft Visio and other Office products to express engineering documentationExcellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and managementAbility to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs. (Of note: SAP/PAR will be upgraded once selected candidate is in role. Therefore, candidate must also be able to obtain and maintain upgraded SAP/PAR.)Preferred Qualifications:Current Special Program AccessAbility to develop and maintain Python scripts and UML diagramsFamiliarity with Agile development methodologyFamiliarity with Jira or similar issue tracking systemFamiliarity with version control such as SVN and GitFamiliarity with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)Familiarity with Interface Control Documents (ICDs)Familiarity with System Design Documents (SDDs)Familiarity with the following tools or languages: Python, UML, Sphinx, REST, YAML, JinjaFamiliarity with the following technologies: Microsoft Operating Systems, Active Directory, Fibre Channel Storage Area Networks, Layer 2 and 3 networking, VPN, IPSec, Storage technologies, UNIX, Linux, Glassfish, Docker, Virtualization, Physical and Cyber SecuritySalary Range:

$133,000 - $199,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
