General Description:The Vice President of Human Resources is the senior executive responsible for overseeing and directing the HR department's administrative and transactional functions. This role focuses on strategic oversight and leadership in HR operations, advising and collaborating with senior leadership to align HR strategies with organizational goals. The VP of HR ensures compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, drives the implementation of HR systems and processes, and enhances the team member experience through effective leadership and best practices.Essential Responsibilities:Supervisory:Recruit, interview, hire, and train management-level HR staff.Oversee the daily workflow of the department and staff.Provide constructive and timely performance evaluations.Policy Management, Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, and Health & Safety:Provide strategic oversight and direction for HR operations, aligning with organizational goals.Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal, state, local regulations, and TJC standards.Oversee compliance activities related to employment laws (EEO, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA) and regulatory standards.Ensure timely and accurate preparation of required regulatory reports.Manage health and safety regulations compliance, cultivating a secure work environment (OSHA, Workers Compensation, etc).Strategic Leadership, Performance Management, and Talent Development:Provide strategic leadership for HR operations, driving initiatives aligned with organizational goals.Direct the performance management process to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.Strategic guidance for design and implementation of talent development initiatives, including leadership development, succession planning, and learning opportunities.Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the system.Compensation, Benefits, Budget Management, and Staffing:Oversee compensation and benefits programs to ensure competitiveness and compliance.Provide strategic guidance on compensation strategies, benefits design, and budget allocation.Draft and implement the System’s staffing and HR department budget.Team Member and Vendor Relations:Provide leadership and guidance on team member relations, including conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and investigations.Manage escalated or complex disciplinary actions and terminations of team members in accordance with company policy.Manage relationships with external HR service providers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring service quality.Metrics and Analytics:Develop and monitor HR metrics and analytics within systems like Workday.Assess the effectiveness of HR programs and initiatives.Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on data analysis.Minimum Qualifications:Required Education:Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field requiredPreferred Education:Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field highly preferredExperience:Ideal candidate currently serves as a top Human Resource executive or as a "number two" or Director-level Human Resource leader of a comparably sized acute hospital or healthcare system.Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in overseeing organizational functions, with a strong background in strategic decision-making and team management.Experience in healthcare or a related field is advantageous.Certifications/Registrations Preferred:SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCPKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge:Comprehensive understanding of human resources principles, practices, and procedures.In-depth knowledge of employment laws and regulations (e.g., EEO, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA).Familiarity with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards as they relate to human resources, education, and employee health.Knowledge of HR systems, particularly HRIS (e.g., Workday) and their integration with other business systems.Understanding of compensation and benefits design, administration, and regulatory compliance.Awareness of current trends and best practices in HR management and organizational development.Financial acumen related to budgeting and resource allocation within HR functions.Skills:Strong leadership and strategic planning skills with the ability to drive HR initiatives that align with organizational goals.Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization.Proficient in conflict resolution and problem-solving.High level of proficiency in using HRIS and other HR-related software and tools.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and leverage HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making.Skilled in policy development and implementation to ensure regulatory compliance.Competence in vendor management, including negotiation and contract management.Abilities:Ability to think strategically and provide visionary leadership in the HR domain.Capable of leading and developing a diverse team of HR professionals.Ability to handle complex and sensitive employee relations issues with discretion and fairness.Adept at managing multiple priorities and navigating a fast-paced work environment.Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership, employees, and external partners.Capacity to foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth within the HR team.Strong decision-making abilities with a focus on ethical and compliant HR practices.Ability to adapt to changes in legislation affecting HR and educational practices, and implement necessary
