We invite you to learn more about us and we look forward to getting to know you.We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Vice President, Prevention Solutions on our Improving Health Outcome team. This is a hybrid position reporting into our Chicago, IL office.As a Vice President, Prevention Solutions, you will be responsible for developing and executing long-term strategy to improve the health of the nation through the prevention and management of diseases that impact a significant proportion of the US population. Oversee teams of clinical and health care experts to create and enhance AMA offerings for health care organizations (HCOs), educational institutions, and other organizations that support chronic disease care and prevention. Responsible for engaging and creating deep relationships with HCOs across the nation to meet strategic AMA population health goals. Serve as a subject matter expert on improved health outcomes across the AMA and externally.RESPONSIBILITIES:Shape and Execute the Improving Health Outcomes StrategyOversee a diverse and growing solution portfolio (improvement programs, insights and analytics, education, and award) designed to meet aggressive and equitable population health goals and drive impact through improved health outcomes.Engage with executive leadership at integrated delivery systems, medical groups, federally qualified health centers, health IT vendors, and medical schools to advance effective chronic care prevention and management in our nation.Explore expansion of solutions into new markets (e.g., payers) and oversee innovative pilots that provide rapid intelligence and potential for broad spread.Develop and deploy strategies to achieve health equity and models of care that optimize care delivery (e.g., physician-led team-based care) within IHO’s solutions.Advance IHO’s collaborations across the AMA’s Mission units and other Business units (e.g., Med Ed, Ed Center, PS2, HS&E, MMX, & Health Solutions) to achieve common goals and leverage skills and assets.Oversee budgets and grants/contracts within and across teams and oversee strategic planning and tracking against milestones.External CollaborationBuild and advance relationships with leading national and international organizations, including commercial entities (e.g., EHR vendors, employers), Federal Agencies (e.g., CMS, ONC, Million Hearts), not-for-profit organizations (e.g., American Heart Assoc) and international-focused entities and journals, whose goals and audiences are complementary to those of AMA.Serve as spokesperson for AMA on Improving Health Outcomes; proactively seek and secure influential speaking engagements; represent AMA in national-level workgroups or advisory groups and support chronic disease-related advocacy as a subject matter expert.Staff ManagementProvides staff management, training, and leadership for all professional staff.Responsible for setting goals, evaluating performance, and developing and advancing staff skills/experience.PublishingPropose and conduct focused studies and analyses that support IHO goals and publish results in medical or other relevant journals and publications.Author commentaries, blogs, other communications to encourage thoughtful dialogue and maintain AMA’s presence in chronic disease prevention and management.May include other responsibilities as assignedREQUIREMENTS:MD or DO required.Minimum 15 years relevant experience, including experience in a healthcare provider setting.Expertise, credibility, and evidence of leadership in health outcomes assessment and improvement and deep knowledge of chronic disease prevention evidence and approaches.Direct experience with the financial operations of health care systems; knowledge of health care purchasing arrangements, including value-based contracting required.Understanding of performance reporting systems and their alignment with national standards, goals, and physician and health system reimbursement.Experience developing and growing relationships with leadership of health care organizations and health care purchasing organizations.Polished negotiation coalition-building skills, and able to work in a matrix environment; ability to solve problems and work flexibly in an ever-changing environment.Minimum 7+ years of experience in staff management; experience in recruiting, managing, and assessing the performance of highly trained professional staff and in handling personnel matters.Experience in developing and managing budgets and meeting budget targets.Proven ability to develop and execute short and long-term goals.Strong listening, analytical, and writing skills, including a record of professional publications.Travel and representation required.
