Job Summary:
The Public Sector Senior Manager is responsible for delivering financial reporting advisory and audit support services to Public Sector clients. The Public Sector Senior Manager also supervises, directs, and reviews the work of Managers, Senior Associates, and staff Associates. In this role, the Public Sector Manager is charged with marketing, networking, and business development within the area of expertise, as well as the responsibility of ensuring engagement profitability by monitoring team chargeability and expenses.
Job Duties:
Client Delivery:
Supports day-to-day client delivery and relationships with peer-level clients
Documents and tests financial reporting processes and internal controls
Ensures quality of work performed by staff and Senior Associates
Provides financial statement audit support as needed by the client
Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis
Supports solution development with guidance from Public Sector Practice leadership
Prepares client interview guides
Supports client interviews
Prepares presentations and briefs, in addition to drafts and final reports
Supports client meetings and other project management requirements
Practice Development:
Supports recruiting efforts by identifying potential candidates and participating in interviews
Business Development:
Supports proposal development process with guidance from Public Sector Practice leadership
Researches and identifies contract opportunities
Researches industry and market trends
Supports preparation presentations and briefs, as well as position papers with guidance from Federal Practice leadership
Attends business development meetings and supports all follow-up actions, as needed
Actively networks professionally outside of BDO (whether through mixers, professional and industry-specific associations, community service activities, referrals, or other mechanisms)
Other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Public Sector direct reports
Evaluates the performance of Public Sector direct reports and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development for all Public Sector staff
Collaborates with Office Business Line Leaders and Human Resources to interview, hire and terminate employees
Acts as mentor/career advisor to Public Sector management and staff as appropriate
Provides professional growth and career advancement opportunities for Public Sector management and staff
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Vaccination Requirement:
“Fully vaccinated" (as defined by CDC) against COVID-19 (except in limited circumstances where a request for a legally protected exemption has been approved) in accordance with the requirements of Executive Order 14042 and FAR 52.223-99, required
Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or other relevant field required
Advanced degree (e.g. MBA, MPA, MPP) in relevant field preferred
Experience:
Eight (8) years of accounting or financial experience required
Three (3) years of progressive experience in leading business management and/or financial management services projects required.
Experience with federal financial management and analysis, financial statements preparation and/or auditing, U.S. Treasury financial related systems and OMB Circular A-123 compliance preferred
License/Certifications:
CPA or similar professional certification (e.g. CISA, CIA, CGFM)
Software:
Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suites, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Proficiency with Visio and/or other graphic design programs beneficial
Language:
N/A
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong knowledge of accounting and experience with financial statement audits
Familiarity with accounting pronouncements of the Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB) and the U.S. Standard General Ledger
Working Capital Fund experience is highly desired
Strong ability to lead/drive workstreams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently within a team environment and with a customer service focus
Candidate must be eligible to obtain a US security clearance
