What to ExpectWe are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Supply Chain Manager to support our development teams and manufacturing partners in the industrialization and management of robust, cost-optimized direct material supply chains. This could include specific parts related to production of our vehicles in Tesla factories, Tesla Energy, batteries, and/or any other components to the successful running of the organization.

This role is a member of the Supply Chain Organization reporting to the Supply Chain Group Manager and will be a resource supporting our various Engineering and Global Supply Management groups within Tesla. The job involves communicating well with internal and external teams, traveling to suppliers in different regions, and on-the-spot critical decision making. The Supply Operations Manager builds and manages strong working relationships with key suppliers and ensures implementation of strategies to provide Tesla with optimal supply assurance, pricing, flexibility, quality, and delivery performance.

What You’ll Do

Ensure visibility of supply for respective components and partner with Global Supply Managers and Supplier Industrialization Engineers to resolve issues with supplier execution and delivery.

Build and manage respective supplier relationships at the management and operational level to manage performance, including but not limited to dispute resolution.

Lead supplier improvements in scalability, cost, and quality, and provide leadership for New Product Introduction.

Facilitate communication and clarification of technical requirements between Suppliers and Tesla Purchasing, Quality, and Design teams.

Accountable for leading, tracking and improving supplier manufacturing process development and launch readiness for new products and design changes.

Play a lead role in managing and resolving shortage and/or allocation issues in material supply affecting regional operations.

Lead change management activity for regional supply with responsibility for: cross-functional coordination with Global Supply Management, Engineering, and Production teams; supplier management and negotiation; and execution of material launch.

Evaluate supplier business proposals and present recommendations that will result in cost savings, avoidance, or containment.

Work collaboratively with Global Supply Managers, Supply Chain Group Managers, Supplier Industrialization Engineers, and other Tesla Supply Chain partners globally.

Evaluate and provide guidance on final selection of suppliers, support value analysis for final selection of suppliers.

What You’ll Bring

Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced environment.

Previous experience managing safety-critical parts, wiring harness, or power distribution commodities.

Excellent program management, written, and verbal skills.

Automotive or electronics background is a plus.

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.

Willingness to travel.

Expected Compensation$72,000 - $264,000/annual salary, depending on level + cash and stock awards + benefits.

Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
