Chief of Staff to the Dean and Lecturer in Law

Northwestern Pritzker School of Law invites applications for a full-time, benefits eligible, faculty position to serve as the Chief of Staff to the Dean. Candidates will be considered for a renewable, long-term appointment at the rank of Lecturer in Law (non-tenure-eligible) and will also hold an administrative faculty appointment as Chief of Staff.

The Chief of Staff to the Dean will be a key leadership position within the Dean's Office of Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, reporting directly to the Dean to advance strategic goals and ensure strong coordination across Law School constituencies on projects and priorities. The Chief of Staff will support the Dean on a wide range of confidential, complex, and sensitive executive, advisory and strategic matters. This leader will collaborate with the Dean, Senior Leadership Team, faculty, staff, students, and alumni to advance initiatives and ensure organized follow-up. The Law School is proud to serve a diverse and varied group of internal and external constituents. This candidate will need to work effectively across these diverse communities. The position may also have the opportunity to teach courses of strategic value to the Law School.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates must hold a J.D. degree, or an equivalent advanced law degree, from a U.S. or foreign law school. Northwestern Pritzker Law seeks applicants with a record of substantial administrative and management experience, proven leadership and communication skills, a commitment to the advancement of diversity, equity, and inclusion. Preferred qualifications include experience working within a law school, particularly having served in a faculty director or associate dean role within a law school; teaching experience; and experience with change management.

The expected base pay range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000. This base pay range is for a twelve-month academic appointment and is subject to negotiation.

Northwestern University has provided a pay range representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for the position. The pay offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors including (but not limited to) the experience and qualifications of the selected candidate including years since terminal degree, training, and field or discipline; departmental budget availability; internal equity; and external market pay for comparable jobs.
