98.5 KTIS, a dynamic part of Northwestern Media and one of the most listened-to and exciting Christian music stations in the country, is looking for their next Program Director. The right person will show passion for the difference the CCM format makes in the lives of others. What will I do in this position?

Essential job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Promote a positive image of KTIS to KTIS staff, donors, listeners, and Northwestern Media and University employees.

Oversee and strategically develop the sound of 98.5 KTIS to ultimately fulfill the mission of Northwestern Media.

Lead and develop full and part-time air talent to new levels of effectiveness through authenticity and relevant storytelling on air and on digital platforms as well as in person.

Develop station to reach unprecedented audience levels for ministry and donor development. Work closely with Station Manager to strategize and implement current and future direction and growth.

Assist in setting direction and planning as a member of the KTIS Leadership Team.

Collaborate with content coaches (i.e. Network Talent Coach) and consultant to strengthen the KTIS brand and achieve objectives.

Utilize broadcasting and supervisory expertise to schedule, oversee, motivate, evaluate, and influence all KTIS on-air staff to expand their creativity and grow professionally.

Meet regularly with direct reports and assist in resolving staff conflicts.

Direct KTIS music by utilizing effective research methods, managing the library, and structuring rotations for maximum impact. Analyze music and programming effectiveness and refine as necessary.

Seek to establish and maintain healthy and productive relationships with artists and labels.

Lead the creation of imaging that fits KTIS’ strategic purpose and brand essence.

Oversee and approve production for station promotional and Community Partner announcements. Lead team to produce excellent work within allotted deadlines.

In concert with Network Digital Media Director, seek and develop opportunities to implement best practices for multiplying the impact of content across KTIS digital platforms.

Serve as backup to Station Manager in his or her absence.

What will it take to succeed in this position?

Minimum Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Minimum of five years’ broadcast management, in both on air and studio production required

Previous direct supervisory experience required

Previous music research and analysis experience required

Continually nurture a personal relationship with Jesus Christ; serve as a consistent witness for Jesus Christ; maintain a kind, Christ-like attitude in dealing with and ministering to people within and outside of Northwestern; and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, doctrinal statement, and Declaration of Christian Community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with a variety of individuals in a professional, kind and tactful manner

Adaptive leadership skills with ability to effectively lead and influence a creative team, communicate expectations, and establish deadlines

Ability to respond professionally in time sensitive situations

Ability to maintain a flexible schedule, occasionally working evenings and weekends for station events

Ability to host events, speak in public, and represent the station in a variety of settings

Ability to take initiative while working in both a team environment and independently without close supervision

Ability to complete projects accurately within deadlines

Knowledge and understanding of FCC rules and regulations as it pertains to broadcast stations

Knowledge and understanding of legal and technical aspects of broadcasting

Intermediate level computer proficiency

Strong on-air personality skills with ability to communicate spiritual truths

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to pass a background check upon hire and periodically throughout the course of employment
