Job Description

Role:

The Vice President of Mortgage Lending is responsible for the overall leadership and performance of mortgage sales, underwriting, processing, closing, and servicing activities. The role ensures that mortgage operations are aligned with the Credit Union's mission to help our members and communities succeed financially by providing them with exceptional services and innovative lending solutions.

The VP of Mortgage Lending is responsible for providing a strategic vision that will drive the mortgage lending initiatives. This vision, developed in collaboration with the Chief Lending Officer, will establish short-term and long-term plans to expand the department's product offerings while creating automated, efficient processes, policies, and procedures. Leadership in this area will ensure these plans meet the members' needs while adhering to regulatory standards and industry best practices.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

Oversees and manages all aspects of the mortgage lending process, including sales, underwriting, processing, closing, and servicing.

Effectively coaches, develops, and provides evaluation to mortgage team members to be a high-performing team that embodies the mission and values of the credit union while achieving results as defined by the department's long-term and short-term strategic plans.

Ensures the quality of mortgage underwriting, documentation, policies, and procedures.

Monitors processes and makes recommendations for change to control delinquency and adhere to secondary market guidelines.

Maintains a working knowledge of mortgage lending regulations and industry trends and makes recommendations that support the strategic initiatives of the credit union.

Responsible for maintaining compliance with all investor (Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VA) guidelines.

Recruit, retain, coach, motivate, and manage a sales team for the credit union's marketing area.

Develop, implement, and monitor a detailed sales plan with specific goals for each territory and Mortgage Loan Officer (MLO).

Maintains a high level of system knowledge and takes responsibility for system maintenance, upgrades, enhancements and new product offerings.

Generate business, leads and relationships with individuals, existing clients, past clients and real estate professionals.

Performs other job related duties as assigned.

Performance Measurements:

Maintains a cohesive, highly trained, motivated, high-performing team that can meet loan demand and meet or exceed established sales goals.

Ensures that service level standards are met and that the team delivers quality results while living up to the credit union's values of integrity, care, growth, and innovation.

Keeps management informed regarding key operational issues affecting the department or credit union.

Ensures that direct reports achieve individual goals and receive ongoing developmental training.

Coaches employees monthly; completes performance reviews within the prescribed timeframe.

Complies with all applicable rules, regulations and policies.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Ten years' experience in all aspects of residential mortgage lending, including business development-origination, sales management, processing, underwriting, closing, and secondary marketing.

Education: A two-year
