De La Salle North Catholic High School (DLSNC) provides a faith-based, college-preparatory high school education to underserved students from the Portland area. Our goal is to develop tomorrow’s community leaders by making high-quality education accessible to motivated young people in a learning environment that values cultural, spiritual, and ethnic diversity. Our educational approach provides each student with the opportunity to succeed through small classes, high expectations, and active participation in our Corporate Work Study program (CWS) affiliated with the nationally-recognized Cristo Rey Network.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a key strategic leader in the school, the Director of Student Recruitment reports to the President and plays a key role in the continued success and growth of the school’s unique and transformative mission. The Director of Student Recruitment is responsible for developing and executing a strategic and long-term recruitment plan to advance the school’s enrollment goals. The Director oversees and manages the Enrollment Specialist, and together they form the 2-person Admissions Department team. Key to the success of this role is building strong relationships with both campus and external stakeholders. The Director of Student Recruitment works closely with the President, the Principal, and the Vice President for Finance to plan and implement key recruitment initiatives.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Including, but not limited to:

Develop and implement a strategic student recruitment plan.

Meet enrollment goals for local geographical area while adhering to the school’s admissions policies and upholding ethnic, diversity, and cultural objectives.

Develop and maintain close working relationships and perform ongoing outreach with local parishes, priests, Catholic elementary and middle schools, and key public school constituents.

Develop and maintain robust relationships with key community partners including community centers, mentoring programs, and youth-focused nonprofit organizations.

Manage Admissions Department operational budget.

Assist in the development, maintenance and execution of the department's communication plan to prospective students, parents, admitted students and the community at large.

Attend and participate in Cristo Rey Network programs and professional development for Recruitment & Enrollment (Admissions) Directors or Enrollment Coordinators.

Frequent local travel on behalf of DLSNC for recruitment and other school-related events to parishes, schools, and community organizations throughout the Portland area.

Speak publicly to individuals and groups both on and off campus.

Assist prospective students with admission application process, conduct placement testing and interviews, and gather student data and transcripts from previous schools.

Evaluate and prepare applicant files for the review by the admissions committee.

Work with the Enrollment Specialist to develop and monitor statistical reports to enhance recruitment strategies, future forecasting, operational efficiency and enrollment planning initiatives.

Calendar the yearly admissions process and share information with school personnel.

Work with the Admissions Specialist to organize student shadow programs, Open House, and other formal and informal programs and visits.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree.

Minimum of three years of progressive experience in admissions at a college or high school.

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.

Strong computer skills, including demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and the Google Suite.

Experience in database systems management.

Demonstrated experience planning and organizing recruitment events (open house, campus visits, etc.) and implementing yield-related strategies.

Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) the mission and impact of the school.

Ability to passionately articulate the school’s Lasallian charism and the school’s unique vision.

Fully engage in the life of the school and community.

Proven track record for making data-driven decisions to meet enrollment goals, including experience with integrated student information systems and using data for analysis and assessment purposes.

Experience related to the recruitment of high ability, underrepresented student populations from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds is preferred.

Proven ability of personally cultivating and stewarding community partnerships to meet goals.

Proven track record of providing strategic direction, leadership and operational management of recruitment activities, resulting in continuous improvement in enrollment.

Ability and enthusiasm to perform in a fast-paced environment with a broad scope of activities and multiple deadlines.

Strong organizational and time management skills and the corresponding analytical skills needed to establish enrollment strategies and report on results.

Ability to exercise leadership skills while engaging in collaborative, team-based work; high capacity to inspire cooperation and work well with teams.

Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion; culturally competent in addressing complex issues.

High level of integrity, initiative, creativity and energy.

Discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality where appropriate.

Ability and willingness to travel on all major forms of public and private conveyance, ability to work weekends and evenings when necessary.

ANNUAL SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary DOE. Generous benefits package includes: 80 hours paid vacation plus winter and spring school breaks, 80 hours paid sick time, paid holidays, medical/dental/vision insurance with a shared premium cost, employer-paid life insurance and long-term disability insurance, and Employee Assistance Program (EAP), employee-paid voluntary insurance plans, and a 403(b) retirement savings plan with employer match.
