Description of Duties:
Provide expertise and leadership of curricular in value-added food business development.
Establish and maintain relationships with employers, government, industry, education and community representatives to identify training and coaching needs to develop innovative training and coaching programs.
Conduct continuous and extensive outreach to local residents and community stakeholders to identify short-term professional development needs.
Leverage entrepreneurial/business background to foster relationships with leaders across sectors and identify new opportunities for collaboration and growth.
Assist in the development of the Center’s users’ business plans according to community/stakeholders' feedback and needs/demands identified, as well as best practice and sustainable operation models available.
Assist in the development and execution of programs, workshops, and resource networks for special target groups.
Develop and implement procedures to promote appropriate business development-related communication and information among Center staff and users.
Assist with the development of communication and marketing materials to support outreach/promotion and fundraising efforts.
Assist in the development of program resources through avenues such as tuition revenues, grant writing, partnerships, agency contracts or other extramural funding opportunities.
Assess and revise curriculum as appropriate to related programming and services.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Agriculture, Business, Culinary Arts, Education, Social Sciences, or related field and three years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for program management; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of entrepreneurship/business development as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations, theories, and systems associated with enterprise revenue generation.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide-ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and apply word processing software.
Experience starting up and/or managing a business that is agriculture, food and/or beverage service, or manufacturing related.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders, members and individuals.
Working experience in developing, executing, and assessing special projects as assigned.
Desired Qualifications:
Working knowledge of the diverse cultural groups and communities of the College's area of responsibility and their unique needs and requirements in terms of the College.
Experience in the development of commercial enterprises and new business ventures in the public sector.
Background working in food production, processing, aggregation, and distribution.
Knowledge of grants administration, special projects, and community partnerships.
