Oncology Nurse - Clinic Setting

Overview:
Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking an Ocular Oncology nurse who will function as the liaison between the patient and the patient care plan. This role will manage the patient care plan by counseling and educating patients regarding surgeries, treatment plans, pre- and post-op care, and treatment side effects. This role will be empathetic to the patients needs and effectively communicate to those involved in the patient care plan.This position is based out of our Flagship office in Belliare with travel to our Woodlands and Katy Clinic. This candidate will also provide surgery support two days per week in the medical center. The candidate will be able to support the clinic's variable hours (Monday - Friday, 6:30 am to 6:30 pm). Our surgeons have studied at some of the most renowned institutions in the nation and all have graduated at the top of their classes.RCTX follows all CDC and local authority protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of the patients, providers, employees and communities.Responsibilities:Provides counseling to patients at the time of diagnosis both in person and virtuallyAnswer patient inquiries by all forms of communicationInitiate orders on newly diagnosed patients to include PET/CT scan or MRIAssist Physician with completing peer to peer reviewsAnswer patient question regarding Plaque surgery to include pre-op, post-op, pain management, and outcomesPerforms post-op examinations and review post-op careTrack and follow up on lab, pathology, imaging results and provide information to Physician and update internal communication channels as directedManage referral processEffectively communicate with all practitioners involved in patient care planEffectively communicate with all surgery sites to align with patient care planCoordinate treatment plans specific to disease processEducating patients on the side effects of chemotherapy and help manage possible side effectsAssist oncology team with managing clinic flowCompletes other duties as assigned
Qualifications:Skills/Competencies:Excellent communication skills both verbal and writtenDemonstrated empathy to patients and patient care planAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced clinic environmentAbility to complete charting as requiredWorking knowledge of oncology and patient diagnosisWorking knowledge of insurance and billing terminologyAbility to work well in a team settingStrong organization and attention to detailAbility to raise concerns, ask questions, or take partners as neededAbility to execute tasks in multiple computer systems to include Word, Teams, EMR, Excel, patient scheduling softwareBilingual preferredEducation RequirementsGraduate of an LVN, ADN, or BSN programExperience Requirements:1 to 3 years of experience as a nurse in a hospital or clinic settingExperience in Oncology preferredLicenses and CertificationLVN or RN license in the state of TexasCPR certification
