Product Director, Lab Systems

at Tempus, you'll be on the front lines of our battle to develop and deliver cutting-edge, modern technology into the hands of clinicians. The software we're developing is the culmination of input from scientists, operations teams, pathologists, and engineers. We're expanding the team of product leaders who bring those inputs together to design, scope, and build solutions to some of the toughest problems in cancer care.

In this Director role, you will lead our Lab Systems product team, whose mission is to transform laboratory operations by developing intuitive, integrated Lab Systems products that optimize the entire laboratory workflow, ensuring peak efficiency, compliance, and data integrity. We are dedicated to empowering Tempus lab personnel with innovative tools that enhance productivity and drive the seamless execution of Tempus workflows, setting a new standard for excellence in lab management. You'll both drive the product vision in these spaces, and manage the team that will collaborate with you on that vision.

What You'll Do:Own the product vision and strategy for our lab platform and products used by our lab personnel across multiple locations.Own the product vision and strategy for our integrations with upstream inputs and downstream consumersInspire, manage, direct and coach a team of product managers to deliver business impact while coaching them to grow as product leadersRepresent and communicate product vision to the heads of our genomics business and other senior executivesCoordinate large scale and highly visible projects with your teamsCollaborate with other members of the product leadership team on advancements to our product development playbook and product culturePartner with developers, scientists, and operations teams to deliver product releases that are stable in production and satisfy scalability, reliability, and performance goalsQualifications:

8-10 years of technical experience building/managing software in the tech or biotech industry.4+ years experience managing a team of product managers and demonstrated ability to leadExtensive experience driving strategic product and engineering initiatives in tech or biotechExperience building high-scale, high-complexity workflow systemsStrong understanding of laboratory workflows, LIMS, and lab asset management systems.Experience in a regulated environment (e.g., CLIA, CAP, FDA)Experience working with agile software development teamsA history of building and using product analytics to drive decisionsAbility and interest to quickly ramp up on new concepts in the fields of genomics and oncologyExcellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to act as a translator among diverse teams of biologists, medical professionals, engineers, operators, and data scientists
