Description

The Broomfield Facilities Team is searching for a Master Electrician to provide oversight in the installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement of various electrical components and equipment located throughout City and County facilities.

Total Compensation Package

Salary Range: $39.07 - $52.87/hour

Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties

Performs and oversees new installations, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks for residential and commercial-type electrical service including low, medium and high voltage systems, conduit, electrical boxes, motors, receptacles, switches, light fixtures, pulling cables, security and fire alarm systems, energy management systems, card access systems, telephone systems, meters, emergency power generators, automatic transfer switches, uninterruptible power supply (UPSs), and elevator equipment.

Performs and oversees electrical demolition work, including removing old wire and electrical equipment.

Responds to work orders and other customer needs for electrical repairs and installations.

Inspects facilities, equipment and electrical systems to determine compliance with State standards, and need for repair, upgrades, capital improvements and/or equipment acquisition.

Performs thermal imaging on Motor Control Centers (MCCs); analyzes power fluctuations and transformers and MCCs; and calibrates 4 to 20 milliamp instruments.

Develops and implements electrical energy conservation projects.

Measures and analyzes electrical use within facilities and evaluates load sharing.

Reviews blueprints and construction plans.

Obtains all necessary permits and coordinates inspections with the Building Department to ensure compliance.

Maintains records of operation, maintenance, and repairs and inventory of parts and supplies.

Provides technical guidance and/or training to maintenance staff, project managers, and other personnel.

Develops electrical specifications and designs for small renovations, tasks, and contracts.

Cross trains with other Facilities specialties to ensure coverage of duties such as removing snow after/before hours, weekends and holidays to ensure public safety.Minimum Qualifications

Education

High School Diploma/GED - required

State of Colorado Master Electrician License.Experience

6 years total experience in the commercial electrical trade, troubleshooting, and/or maintenance and repair, including 4 years for Journeyman license, 1 year for Master license, and 1 additional year of work experience at the Master level

1 year supervisory experience preferred.Or any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the Necessary Applicant Traits.

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record for continued employment. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, background checks including local police check, sex-offender registry, DMV check, pre-placement physical, and fingerprints through CBI/FBI.

Working Conditions

Work is generally scheduled Monday through Friday with some weekend and holiday work required.

May be called into work at any hour to perform emergency repairs as needed.

In-person customer/client/team meetings required.

Physical demands are described as heavy (exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects).

Must ascend, descend, and work on a 20 foot ladder as well as rooftops of multiple-story buildings.

Required to operate/use/handle/construct equipment, e.g., office equipment, hand tools, etc.

Required to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Required to communicate and/or detect sounds

Required to sit, kneel, or crawl

Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

May occasionally be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, or airborne particles.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, color vision, and peripheral vision.

Work near moving mechanical parts.

Work in confined spaces.

Work in year-round outdoor weather conditions.

Work in conditions of extreme heat and cold.

Requires indoor and outdoor activities.

The noise level in the environment is moderately noisy.
