Our company is seeking an experienced Nonprofit Community Relations Manager to develop and oversee the execution of various community engagement initiatives.

This role is responsible for building relationships with community members, raising brand awareness via collaboration across teams such as social media, policy and development to create effective strategies for promoting RAINN to and with target audiences including RAINN’s Speakers Bureau community of survivor advocates, and Latino/a/e/x and LGBTQ+ populations.

Other responsibilities will include developing partnerships with communities that support our mission and share our vision. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a degree in Communications or Marketing, and nonprofit engagement and experience using social media, community relationship management tools (Salesforce, Every Action, etc.) and tools to create the type of content our community members will respond to via email, SMS, and website tools (Every Action, Mailchimp, Salseforce marketing cloud, Wordpress.)

The ideal candidate will be a driven, enthusiastic collaborator and an assertive problem-solver reporting to the Director of Marketing. The ideal candidate for this position has a deep knowledge of digital organizing and creating pathways via specialized web tools to move folks up the ladder of engagement.

Responsibilities:

Develop program resources, strategies, and processes for community engagement and management.Assist with the buildout of data and analytics to measure effectiveness.Work with communication team members to build and execute promotional campaigns that will raise awareness.Plan and coordinate community engagement events such as webinars, workshops, trainings and advocacy events.Promote community events on social media to attract and engage community members.Develop and maintain relationships with subject matter experts to promote our community engagement and disseminate resources and relevant program information.Use analytic tools like Facebook Insights, Google Analytics, and Agorapulse to discover the type of content our audience engages with the most.Develop and oversee the implementation of community engagement communications, such as newsletters, website content, social media, etc.Respond to member/user inquiries, complaints, or issues in a timely, professional manner.Speak on behalf of RAINN about our community engagement work in an informed, culturally competent manner to media and other public settings.Demonstrate discretion in handling sensitive and/or confidential information and discussing topics related to sexual violence with empathy and professionalism, a plus.Position Specifications, including skills and abilities:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit management, or similar education.3-5 years of experience in Communications, Marketing, Advocacy, or Community Management.Previous experience working in nonprofit organizations is preferred.Knowledge of digital content creation, social media, accessibility, search engine optimization, and digital analytics.Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in English and Spanish.Proficient in G-Suite Products, Spreadsheets, Surveys, and Google Docs.Monitor relevant news, culture, politics, and social channels to uncover opportunistic moments that leverage our communities skills.Experience working with and/or for historically vulnerable and underserved populations.Capable of working in a fast-paced environment.The ability to work independently and efficiently on concurrent projects and with internal staff and outside partners/vendors is a requirement.High level of motivation and assertiveness; self-starter.Willingness to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.Strong written and verbal communication skills to produce reports, assign tasks, accept instructions, and handle vendor contracts, among other tasks.Strong interpersonal skills to interact positively with all employees.Attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed thoroughly and correctly.Ability to solve problems and deal with a wide range of situations.Strong time-management and organizational skills are essential.Ability to travel for work functions (10%).

Physical Environment

There are no harmful environmental conditions for this position, and the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

RAINN headquarters are in Washington, DC. This position may be based regionally for someone whose residence is within the continental USA. Although this may be a remote role, it may require periodic business travel to our DC offices for on-site meetings and training sessions.
