Job SummaryThe Community Outreach Manager role is an integral part of the Community Engagement team, ensuring KIPP DC is building the necessary relationships with elected officials, non-profit and community based leaders and stakeholders to support the learning of KIPP DC students and their families external to our

KIPP DC schools. The starting salary range for this role is $71,615-$85,256. This is a full-time position on the HDQ regional team, based at KIPP DC HDQ, with assignments that include working from KIPP DC various campuses.

The Community Engagement Team builds strong community relationships with external partners and stakeholders to ensure that KIPP DC can accomplish its mission to equip its students with the knowledge, skills, and mindsets to become thoughtful, intentional citizens in the competitive world. At KIPP DC, we actively seek to influence the overall public education ecosystem in the District of Columbia. This position will contribute to the development and execution of strategies and partnerships to deploy an aggressive community engagement and advocacy strategy to ensure every KIPP DC student can receive a quality public education.The ideal candidate for this position will bring experience in DC governmental relations and local community engagement, strong relationships with local non-profits, and community-based and social justice organizations, and be well-versed in key educational equity policy debates. The Community Outreach Manager will collaborate with KIPP DC teammates and external organizing partners to help build civic capacity around bold approaches to address educational equity issues for KIPP DC specifically and DC public education in general.

Location and Type of WorkAs a headquarters team that is focused on being responsive to our schools and meeting the needs of our students and families, we approach our work in a way that reflects these priorities. Schools operate in person and our students and families rely on us for in-person support which requires this position to be fully on-site. This role is currently required to be on-site or in schools during regular work hours.

Responsibilities

Community Engagement Outreach: 50%Represent KIPP DC at community meetings, events, and functions, including Advisory Neighborhood Commission meetingsImplement a comprehensive community outreach strategy that aligns with KIPP DC's mission and vision.Build and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, organizations, and residents.Plan and execute effective outreach events and initiatives that engage the community.Track and report on the impact of community outreach efforts.Stay abreast of local issues and concerns to inform outreach strategies.Develop materials, workshops, and campaigns to raise awareness and mobilize support.Community Partnerships: 20%Identify and cultivate formalized community partnerships that benefit KIPP DC students, families, and staff.Maintain and strengthen partnerships through ongoing support.Provide regular updates regarding partnership status and meetings to organization leadership.Collaboration with other KIPP DC Teams: 20%Coordinate with the communications team on all aspects of community outreach communications.Partner with the student recruitment team on events and initiatives to drive interest in and enrollment at KIPP DC schools.Support fundraising efforts by cultivating relationships with potential donors and sponsors within the community.Advocacy: 10%Advocate for policies and decisions that support the interests of KIPP DC, its students, and the broader charter school sector.Collaborate on initiatives that promote educational equity and excellence within the city.Identify and partner with like-minded policy and advocacy organizations to advance common goals.

Requirements & Preferences

KIPP DC offers an extremely competitive compensation and benefits package:The anticipated starting salary range for this position is $71,615-$85,256. When determining salaries we look at benchmarks in the education and non-profit sector.KIPP DC offers a robust benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurances; various voluntary benefits; and employer paid benefits such as short term disability, long term disability, life insurance, and a membership to One Medical.KIPP DC also offers a 403(b) retirement account with a 3% employer contribution and a 3% match with vesting after three years.Currently, individuals in this role have up to 15 paid time off days, up to 10 paid sick days, and 12 paid holidays.
