Job Description SummaryTo ensure the management of our critical applications and support our mission of "providing value to the business securely", we are seeking an experienced leader in IT Applications Architecture space that has worked for (or with) large global manufacturing organizations. This position will report to the IT Applications Director and support the people, process and technology enhancements required for successful applications management.The Application Architect role requires a collaborative approach with manufacturing and engineering applications teams to protect operational technology and understand the requirements of the business to provide automations to increase business efficiency with the importance of resilience and the facilitation of digital transformation. They will oversee the design and development of software applications and collaborate on application design with internal stakeholders and application development teams, implement and monitor application development stages, and document application development processes. Since the applications are related to the Engineering and Manufacturing space the architect will be responsible to understand the unique business processes and customizations related to our Enterprise applications to be able to lead the teams that support these applications. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the IT Engineering Application Portfolio and ensuring that we enforce a well governed process around application portfolio management.

Job Description

To be successful in this role, the Applications Architect must have excellent project management skills, be highly organized and efficient, and possess a deep understanding of the software development cycle. They must also be able to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical staff, as well as external vendors. With these skills, the Application Architect can help ensure that an organization's software needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.In short, the role of Application Architect will include several important responsibilities, including:

Understanding the requirements of the business to provide automations to increase business efficiencies with emphasis on digital transformation.Establishing protocols for software applications and ensuring their ease of use for othersEnsuring applications are scalable and reliable, and assisting the enterprise in identifying gaps in functionality.Collaborating with senior managers to determine business-specific application needs.Implementing application development plans for new or existing applications.Leading the application development teams and supervising the design, testing, and modification stages.Demonstrating application prototypes and integrating user feedback.Mentoring junior application developers and providing end-users with technical support.Lead application integrations, maintenance, upgrades, and migrations.Documenting application development processes, procedures, and standards.Integrating trends in application architecture in application development projectsAll other duties as assigned.Required Skills and Education

10+ years of experience working in a global, engineering space with responsibility for the planning & management of activities relating applications management.Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, or related degree10+ years of experience in managing the software development lifecycle.Experience in development platforms related to Engineering and Manufacturing.Strong background in application development, with experience and proficiency in multiple languages, platforms, and domains. Hands-on experience in multiple programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, Ruby, and others. Knowledge of tools such as Git and Jenkins is a must for managing the codebase.Strong background is application development using full stack technologies with a high level of competency in both frontend (React, Typescript) and backend database systems (Docker, Java, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Spring Boot).Expertise in testing automation and DevOps tools for CI/CD pipelines (GitHub actions, Helm, Terraform)Familiarity with Cloud Service Providers and knowledge of cloud architecture such as Kubernetes platforms, cloud data storage, and data processing is essential to developing scalable and responsive applications.Understanding of Security and Data Privacy Regulations and should be familiar with concepts such as data encryption, secure data transmission, access control, and least privilege. Their role includes ensuring that the applications developed are secure and compliant with the relevant regulations.Knowledge of System Architectures and Design Patterns and possess knowledge of system architectures such as microservices, service-oriented architecture.Strong Project management experience with waterfall and agile projects, expert in project management tools such as Jira and/or Microsoft DevOpsSolid understand of Engineering Enterprise PDM applications such as Siemens Teamcenter, IBM Rational Suite of applications and applications related to engineering and manufacturing systems.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams, present findings to management, and liaise with external stakeholders.Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.Relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL Foundations CSPO, CSM, or other industry-recognized certifications are highly desirable.
