Felton offers a dynamic, challenging, and supportive work environment where we encourage the use of professional development, that staff can utilize throughout their career.Program DescriptionFelton’s Senior Division specializes in a full continuum of mental health services for older adults in outpatient clinics, the community, and supportive housing sites, as well as programs in employment training, economic security, case management, advocacy, and social connection and inclusion. The Foster Grandparent Program, one of the first intergenerational programs in the country, provides support services for children in early education, school, and other settings, developing one-to-one consistent relationships by tutoring, mentoring, and providing emotional support. The Senior Companion Program provides companionship programs for isolated older adults who can benefit from one-on-one interaction to reduce loneliness. These older adults may be frail, homebound, or living in isolating settings. Both programs provide limited income older adults with a stipend to increase their economic security, working 15-30 hours a week.Job DescriptionCoordinates and monitors project activities including recruitment, in-service training, and other activities in cooperation with the project director and appropriate volunteer station staff. Facilitates placement of Foster Grandparent and Senior Companion volunteers in a variety of community-based child-centered and older adult-centered volunteer sites throughout San Francisco. Provides coordinated pre-service orientation, in-service instruction, and overall supervision of AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers with volunteer station professional staff. Coordinates volunteers’ assignments including assisting volunteer station staff to develop volunteer assignment plans and volunteer activities and monitoring progress toward achieving the expected outcomes and impact specified in assignment plans. Provides information and support to volunteers. Facilitates positive working relationships between volunteers and station staff.Specific ResponsibilitiesManages all aspects of the placement process for new FGP and SCP volunteers including recruitment, arranging interviews, performing background checks and other vetting activities in alignment with AmeriCorps federal guidelines.Supports all outreach activities including but not limited to community presentations, staff education and outreach to service providers, public housing clients, and other community members, to increase awareness and recruit new volunteers to the FGP/SCP Program.Utilizes social media and electronic communication to raise awareness of the FGP and SCP programs.Supports volunteers through verbal, written, and coordinated translation assistance.Develops and delivers all required volunteer training including pre-service orientations, in-service training, and annual re-certification of volunteers.Collaborates and supports the annual volunteer recognition event, ongoing recognition efforts, and other projects with FSA staff and outside agencies in conjunction with the FGP/SCP Program Staff.Helps facilitate the proper completion and timely submission of volunteer monthly timesheets. Coordinates with station supervisors and provides additional training to station staff. Coordinates the data entry of volunteer stipends into monthly spreadsheet, and submission to fiscal for processing.Provides administrative support to the program manager and assists with data collection required for monthly, quarterly, and annual report processing.Collaborates with program staff and advisory council in the planning and implementation of the annual volunteer recognition event.Other duties as necessary.Minimum QualificationA minimum of 2 or more years of experience in a supporting community-based program (experience working with the older adult population is a plus).Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience.Professional working proficiency in Cantonese or Spanish is a plus.Ability to be a team player with a welcoming attitude.Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
