Purpose
The Associate Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement (AVP) will be responsible to:
75% of time:
Serve as the senior team member under the supervision of the Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement, in advancing strategic goals of the Office of Philanthropic Engagement
Advance the strategic process of identification, cultivation, solicitation, closure, and stewardship of leadership gifts of $100,000+ in support of strategic capital and programmatic initiatives, as well as major gifts ($25,000+) for operating, capital, and endowment purposes
Collaborate with the Director of Annual Giving to ensure a systematic process that ensures a pipeline of prospective major gift donors from the annual giving pool
Provide support to the President and key top-level volunteers in securing philanthropic support and stewarding benefactors at the highest levels.
25% of time:
Oversee stewardship activities for all giving levels, and supervise the Manager of Donor Engagement and Communications.
Essential Job Functions
Supports the Schools mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook
Plays a key role in the planning and execution of major fund-raising initiatives for strategic priorities that significantly advance the people and programs of Pine Crest School.
Works with the Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement and school leadership to build an infrastructure and promote a culture that yields philanthropic giving at the highest levels in support of strategic priorities
Provides effective frontline staff support to the President, Trustees, and faculty as needed to advance their engagement with individuals and organizations having the ability and inclination to make the largest philanthropic gifts
Identifies and qualifies key prospective benefactors and provides opportunities for them to become engaged in meaningful ways that ultimately yield sustained and increased giving at the highest levels
Works with the Director of Annual Giving to ensure the identification and advancement of donors $25,000+
Supervises the Manager of Donor Engagement and Communications to facilitate meaningful stewardship and donor recognition at all levels of giving
Plays a key role in the purpose, design, and writing of key Philanthropic Engagement communications
Holds regular meetings with team members to plan, check status, review for quality, and evaluate the success of initiatives on the Philanthropic Engagement calendar
Reviews all asks and proposals for gifts of $25,000+ to ensure alignment with strategic priorities and to ensure attainment of the highest potential
Collaborates with senior leadership to confirm student status and determine funding opportunities in line with strategic plan initiatives and with school colleagues to ensure effective administration of philanthropic funds and meaningful stewardship to leadership benefactors
Writes effective proposals and gift agreements that comply with the Charitable Gift Acceptance Policy
Provides regular and accurate reports on progress to the Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement
Represents the office and provides volunteer assistance at select school-wide events
Proficiently works as an emergent leader, respected when serving as team leader and team member
Passionate and proactive in learning best practices to strengthen personal performance and Philanthropic Engagement programs
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee
Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelors degree required; advanced Degree preferred
Experience and Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of comprehensive fund-raising experience, including a successful, consistent track record in major gift fundraising ($100,000+) preferably in an educational environment
Success in securing and providing stewardship to five, six and seven-figure gifts
Experience in working effectively with administrative and volunteer leadership
Must be familiar with donor database applications, preferably Raisers Edge
Experience in management and supervision of personnel
