Job Summary:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President to lead our organization in strategic growth, development, and operations. The Vice President of Philanthropy is responsible for promoting philanthropic investment by donor partners in order to advance the High Watch mission. Additionally, the VP of Philanthropy works with internal and external constituencies to build a culture of philanthropy that goes beyond transactional fundraising to build lasting, fruitful relationships rooted in a shared vision.

Responsibilities:

Successful development, management and execution of an annual development plan with a fundraising goal of approximately $1.5 to $2 million through a multi-level, multi-faceted strategic development plan.

Responsible for identifying and developing new partnerships, donors, and grant opportunities, as well as expanding existing partnerships and donor cultivation and participation.

Management of a development staff of 3 FTEs including a Director of Annual Giving, Major Gift Coordinator and Philanthropy Assistant, including setting and monitoring goals with staff, coaching and mentoring; and providing professional development opportunities.

Successful cultivation and solicitation of a major donor and corporate sponsorship portfolio.

Active participation with the CEO and Board of Directors in the planning and execution of donor identification, solicitation and cultivation, pledge campaigns, corporate and foundation solicitations/relations and events.

Development of a comprehensive plan to development by working closely with and encompassing our community initiatives and investments and marketing and communications functions.

Ability to analyze, monitor and report revenue results, create a system for trending and pacing fundraising vs. goal, and report on a consistent basis to the management team, and Board of Directors.

Motivate staff to ensure objectives are achieved through the development, implementation and maintenance of key departmental goals.

Remain current on policy developments, trends and critical issues in the areas of funding.

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree.

Seven to ten years of experience in the development department of a philanthropic or non-profit organization.

Proven track record in individual giving, major donors, corporate partnerships, foundation grants and campaigns.

Effective public speaker and communicator who can handle presenting proposals and adapt her/his style to different audiences.

Familiarity with donor advised funds, giving circles, restricted/unrestricted funds, endowed/non-endowed funds a plus.

Able to manage budgets and to support the work of the governance board and committees of the Board.

Strong team leader.

Prior fundraising software experience.

Experience in the recovery field welcomed.
