Compensation: $35.00-45.00 per hour
The Director of Development will serve the Most Precious Blood Parish, School and Early Learning Center by planning, guiding, and evaluating the development efforts of the school in fundraising, enrollment, marketing, event planning, grant writing, communication, and public relations. The Director will be expected to advance MPB's goals and mission through creative strategies and initiatives, and relationship building and maintaining long-term connections among Pastor, Parochial Vicar, Principal, parish and school families, local businesses, and other relevant organizations. The position will report to the Pastor and the Principal.
Tasks/Responsibilities:
Enrollment Management:
Responsible for the planning, management, and implementation of the marketing, recruitment, and retention of students. This includes open houses, campus tours, preschool and parish outreach, re-registration, marketing literature creation, social media posts, website development, and articulation of the differences and advantages of Catholic education.
Work closely with key volunteers, coordinating the external and internal marketing efforts and initiatives that attract and retain students.
Collect and track enrollment data, make projections, and report enrollment management data.
Fundraising:
Responsible for the planning, management, and implementation of all fundraising and friend-raising initiatives, including annual giving, major gifts, sponsorships, and events.
Identify and evaluate new fundraising opportunities.
Manage grant writing and identification of new grant opportunities.
Lead the development of metrics and reports that convey relevant progress in fundraising and engagement. Generate annual report of fundraising efforts.
Manage portfolio of donors, maintaining regular correspondence and acknowledgments of gifts.
Create/maintain business partnerships within the community - Create relationships with businesses to establish MPB family discounts, event sponsorships, and auction donations.
Educate and engage key volunteers (i.e., Home and School) in implementing mission-based fundraising.
Work to create and support a culture of philanthropy within the school and parish.
Lead special projects as requested by the Pastor and/or Principal.
Communications:
Work with the Principal and Communications Department on creation of engagement-related content, including bulletin entries, Flocknote content, newsletter articles, social media, website development, annual report, videos, photos, and online posts.
Qualifications:
Motivated self-starter who has experience in enrollment management, development, sales, marketing, and communication, preferably in the field of education.
Ability to appreciate and communicate a passion for Catholic education and be able to work in a school environment.
Demonstrates leadership and effectiveness in developing and accomplishing organizational goals, excellent time-management skills; able to manage multiple projects and prioritize responsibilities.
Able to build a team, effectively recruiting and managing volunteers.
Superior communication skills, able to engage and inspire donors, and interact confidently, respectfully and effectively with pastor, school staff, students, donors, school administration, and alumni. Director is able to communicate knowledgeably, effectively, professionally, and tactfully with a variety of audiences, to facilitate meetings and speak comfortably to small groups. S/he presents and maintains a professional, composed, and courteous demeanor in challenging and/or sensitive situations.
Working knowledge of Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Excel and the Internet.
Three to five years experience in a parochial or not-for-profit environment is preferred.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
