Career Training Services Director
Penobscot Job Corps Center, Bangor, Maine, us, 04401
Plans, directs and supervises, under center guidelines and policies, the activities of the Career Development Department. Responsible for administering the Career Preparation, Academic and Career Technical Training programs, as well as Career Counseling services for disadvantaged youth and is also responsible for administering an annual budget. Demonstrates on-going commitment to preparing young people for the workforce by modeling, mentoring and monitoring.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:
Plans, directs and supervises the activities of the Career Preparation and Career Development phases of the Career Development Services System (CDSS).
Ensures the Center is meeting or exceeding outcomes goals for Direct Center Services.
Manages student outcomes and maintains high active pools.
Manages and supervises the activities of the department to include: career preparation, academic and career technical training programming.
Ensures alignment with National Office of Job Corps, Regional Office, and Corporate Office programming goals and design.
Ensures that the Center maintains the highest level of Data Integrity in all reporting of Center statistics and metrics.
Analyzes the effectiveness and efficiency (utilizing the Career Technical Training Report Card and Outcomes Measurement System Center Report Card) of programs and executes necessary changes for program improvement.
Guides and manages Cluster Managers in job development, community outreach for work-based learning, and developing partners for the Center’s Industry Advisory council.
Oversees the student assessment system including Career Success Standards Evaluation Tool (CSSET) and the Test of Adult Basic Education (TABE).
Supervises the student accommodations system for the Center.
Manages the Driver’s Education function for the Center.
Monitors and manages the Career Preparation phase to ensure all required elements are being met.
Administers disciplinary procedures in accordance with Career Systems policy.
Provides in-service training for departmental staff as required.
Ensures departmental equal employment and affirmative action goals and objectives are met.
Projects and plans for instructional needs, secures facilities, materials and staff to adequately administer the department’s programs.
Plans and administers monthly and annual budget for the department.
Assesses personnel needs and works with the Human Resources Department to screen and interview potential staff members.
Prepares and submits activity reports as required by the Center Director.
Approves promotions, transfers and merit evaluations within the department. Prepares and conducts performance evaluations.
Leads the Career Development Department towards established outcomes and programming goals; and manages progress toward stated goals.
Formulates proposals and makes recommendations to the Center Director on all changes in policies and procedures pertaining to the department.
Ensures compliance with EEO, AAP, OSHA and other contractual obligations.
Attends required staff training sessions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in work-related field. Four years broad-based proven work experience in increasingly responsible positions in Job Corps or a similar training program, two of which were in a managerial capacity.
Preferred: Master’s degree in education or vocational education. Five years or more proven work-related experience in various positions in a Job Corps program or similar type program.
