As an Acute Care Advanced Practice Provider, you will exercise independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of medical processes and procedures, in accordance with the nurse practitioner licensure regulations of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and as delineated in the written Scope of Practice/Protocol for APPs. To help achieve our mission, you will demonstrate respect for and an understanding of other clinical disciplines while using an integrated approach to achieve desired patient outcomes. Utilizing evidenced-based standards, guidelines, and protocols for care delivery is required.Four 10-hour shifts with one weekend/month requirement.Position Description:

APP will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive patient care in the inpatient clinical setting.Provide inpatient coverage at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus.Day shift with rotational weekend coverage.No call or night shifts required.Position Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited NP or PA program. Must be approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state of Virginia. Current prescriptive privileges and DEA license required. BLS and ACLS for Healthcare Provider from AHA required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice.Nurse Practitioner: Master's Degree or Doctorate of Nursing Practice required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required. ACNP, AGACNP certification preferred based on population served.Physician Assistant: Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Master's Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred.Inpatient experience required; prior transplant and/or pulmonary experience preferred.Demonstrate appropriate critical thinking and interpersonal skills when working in a fast-paced, high acuity work environment. Able to perform a thorough history and physical assessment.VA License.EPIC experience preferred.Minimum Requirements:Certification -

Basic Life Support prior to start; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (for Critical Care) upon start; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (for Pediatrics) upon start.Licensure -

Licensed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner;

If Nurse Practitioner: RN Compact License (depending on State of primary residence)

AND a license (or eligibility for) as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant in the Commonwealth of Virginia AND a "Practice Agreement" signed by sponsoring/supervising physician(s), AND a written "Scope of Practice/Protocol" signed by the supervising physician, AND "Drug Enforcement Administration License" (if prescribing controlled substances).Experience -

No prior experience required; New graduates considered.Education -

For Nurse Practitioners: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and Master's Degree in Advanced Clinical Practice or graduate of a post-masters certificate program for nurse practitioners, OR certificate from an education program that is accredited by the Council of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs/Schools, American College of Nurse Midwives, American Association of Colleges of Nursing of the National League for Nursing; For Physician Assistants: Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
