Senior CAD Designer

Job Summary:

Responsible for working with customers and Design Engineers to complete CAD designs in SolidWorks CAD. This includes creating solid models from design sketches or verbal descriptions, completing 2D drawings with the appropriate technical notes, dimensions, and tolerances. Work closely with Design Engineers.

Primary Functions:

Creating 3D solid models and 2D detailed design drawings for custom injection molded plastic parts, multi conductor cables, contacts, and other connector related components.

Create concepts for new projects based on customer requirements and communicate the concepts during internal and/or customer design reviews.

Work with design engineers to develop the proper dimensional tolerances and tolerancing schemes to support manufacture of the component or product.

Creating, implementing, & managing engineering change orders during product development.

Communicate and work with marketing, sales, quality, and operations on design details and output.

Work with the mold design and prototype department to generate mold tools, assembly equipment and rapid prototype parts.

Skills/Qualifications Needed:

2-year technical degree (or higher) in a mechanical design related field.

5+ years’ experience as a CAD designer, with at least 3 years' using SolidWorks CAD.

Skilled in the use of ANSI drafting principles and practices.

Familiar with GD&T.

Desired Skills, but not required:

Advanced level of understanding in 3D CAD & 2D detailed drawings.

Experience with Engineering data management systems (SolidWorks EPDM preferred).

Ability to manage several tasks/projects at a given time in a high pace environment.

Experience/capabilities in the design of metal and plastic components.

Connector and/or cable design experience.

Medical device/product design experience.

Experience in creating/performing engineering change orders in an ISO certified environment.
