Basic Functions:
The Commercial Banking Relationship Manager (RM) is responsible for managing an existing portfolio of client relationships, as well as developing new business for the Bank. The RM will work with local business owners and real estate professionals to help them achieve their financial objectives and grow their businesses. Through proactive account management, excellent customer service, and business development efforts, the RM is expected to nurture and deepen client/prospect relationships to grow the bank's commercial loan and deposit balances in the Decatur, Illinois market. The RM will work independently and in collaboration with other bank colleagues, including treasury management professionals and personnel from other divisions to deliver the products and services offered by the bank.
Essential Job Duties:
Responsibilities include:
Managing and administering a portfolio of loans, while also serving as a central point of contact for lending customers, treasury management, and other banking needs.
Developing new business by calling on businesses, accountants, attorneys, and other centers of influence in the community.
Handling loan requests, taking loan applications, and interfacing with the customer/applicant to facilitate a complete loan application.
Performing (with the assistance of the Credit Department, as applicable) preliminary analyses, structuring of loan requests, and recommending an appropriate response (i.e. approval, decline, counterproposal, etc.) for consideration by the appropriate individuals based on loan authority; discussing the credit decision with the applicant/customer.
Maintaining excellent credit quality through careful monitoring of existing loans, tracking receipt of timely financial information, and verifying compliance with financial covenants; monitoring loan grades based on customer financial performance as well as industry and other considerations.
Participating actively in community organizations and being visible at community events.
Assisting other bankers with loan closings, loan administration, and special projects as needed.
Conduct all duties in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and Bank policies and procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fields is required, and formal credit training is strongly preferred. The RM is expected to have a comprehensive knowledge of commercial credit analysis as well as the bank's commercial loan and related policies. The RM should be outgoing, personable, and have a heart for service. Attentiveness to detail and deadlines and the ability to prioritize and multi-task are critical.
Training and Experience:
The RM should have at least 1-2 years of previous commercial lending experience.
