The YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas is currently seeking an Executive Director for the Coppell Family YMCA. The Coppell YMCA was established in 1986, as part of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas Association, providing childcare and programs to the community. In 1999, the Coppell Family YMCA opened the current branch, which was recently renovated in 2022.

The Executive Director will provide direct leadership and supervision for all membership, child watch, special events, marketing, an annual campaign, overall branch operations, and community impact. The position works closely with regional directors to support program areas in sports, fitness, adventure guides, aquatics, and other areas as needed and is directly accountable for overall branch success.

This position is responsible for driving the success of the Annual Campaign which raises funds for families that need financial assistance. In addition, they will assist in supervising, training, and motivating a large staff and volunteer base. The incumbent will also lead the development of the annual budget and is responsible for the effective use of resources in improving operations. In conjunction with lead volunteers, this position will direct, plan, and participate in monthly board meetings, volunteer committees, staff leadership, and the annual campaign meetings. Assist program staff in developing and interpreting their annual budgets and provide guidance for successful programming. Ensure the maintenance of the overall performance of the physical plant. Be visible, conscious, and aware of members’ needs and generate solutions to problems and conflicts.

Primary Job Duties:

Provide leadership in the Coppell and service areas of the community.

Accountable for the direct leadership of the day-to-day operations as well as the expected financial results and operational metrics.

Recruits, leads, and manages a volunteer board of management for the branch, maintaining set structures, numbers, and expectations for the volunteers.

Responsible for all activities as well as supervision of all membership, special events, member sales and services, corporate membership sales, and on-site wellness programs.

Provides leadership and guidance for program areas such as sports, aquatics, fitness, and other regional programs.

Accountable for creating a growth-based action plan that will increase membership sales, membership retention, activity participation, as well as community awareness in the Coppell community.

Will be accountable for the leadership of marketing, public relations, communications, and community events and activities.

Responsible for monthly reports that are required by the Association and the Branch.

Responsible for mentoring, coaching, and directing the performance of 2 FT Exempt staff directly, 5 FT Non-Exempt Staff indirectly, and providing supervision of 75+ part-time staff/instructors.

Responsible for budget management as well as leadership in the Annual Campaign.

Will be required to effectively assess and improve staff performance when required.

Requirements

Must have a 4-year degree or the equivalent in related working experience in the YMCA.

Will be required to have a demonstrated background in fiscal management, financial development, recruitment and development of volunteer leadership, community involvement, and strategic planning.

Demonstrate experience in the ability to successfully manage the day-to-day operations of a Y branch or similar facility.

YMCA Multi-Team Leader certification preferred.

Must be able to relate well to public, staff, YMCA members, and key stakeholders.

Must be competent in membership and program development, staff selection and development, and facility operations.

Should possess skills in communications and member relations, motivating staff and volunteers, supervision, staff selection, training, and evaluation.

Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.

Can develop positive relationships with YMCA members, program participants, city and the community.

Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.

Obtain and maintain all required training for this position.

Must be a team player with a commitment to excellence.

Must have a flexible schedule which may include some nights and weekends.
