Economists at Amazon will be expected to work directly with senior management on key business problems faced in retail, international retail, cloud computing, third-party merchants, search, Kindle, streaming video, and operations. Amazon economists will apply the frontier of economic thinking to market design, pricing, forecasting, program evaluation, online advertising, and other areas. You will build econometric models, using our world-class data systems, and apply economic theory to solve business problems in a fast-moving environment. Economists at Amazon will be expected to develop new techniques to process large data sets, address quantitative problems, and contribute to the design of automated systems around the company.

About the teamAt Selling Partner Service Econ team, Economists and Scientists create science- and data-based solutions at scale for evaluating and optimizing programs for safeguarding consumers against potentially risky situations, and supporting Selling Partners and Brand Owners to help them thrive on Amazon.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- PhD in economics or equivalent- Knowledge of data analysis languages (e.g., R, Stata, Python, etc.) or other statistical softwarePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in a postdoctoral position, consulting position, government position, or academic research- Experience with SQL- Proven track record in research and solution of business problems leveraging techniques from economics or related disciplines- Demonstrable experience in any of the following areas of applied economics (multiple areas preferred): reduced-form causal analysis, structural estimation, predictive modeling and causal ML algorithms, forecasting, labor economics, health and insurance economics, education economics- Strong writing skills- Advanced coding ability in a scripting language such as Python- Experience working with large data setsAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
