Medical/Surgical - Adult Oncology UnitFull Time80887BRJob SummaryThe Unit Director is involved in ensuring optimal patient outcomes through effective leadership and/or provision of patient care delivery in the assigned nursing unit. Promotes an environment for a shared voice in nursing practice and exchange of ideas to continually improve nursing and patient care outcomes. Accountable for the quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness of patient care. Consults and collaborates with other health care professionals to coordinate the management of patient care. Serves as a resource to staff, physicians, students, and others.The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. UCSF Compensation and Benefits .Department DescriptionThe 66-bed Adult Hematology/Oncology/Blood Marrow Transplant (BMT) Unit is a fast-paced, highly specialized unit located on the eleventh and twelfth floors of Long Hospital. Staff provide exceptional patient-centered care to acutely and chronically ill adults with complex hematological and oncological diagnoses.Nurses are highly trained to provide multiple treatment modalities, such as chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiation therapy, peripheral blood/umbilical cord stem cell/bone marrow transplants, and cellular immunotherapy. The staff excels in symptom management and provides compassionate care to patients throughout the various stages of their treatment recovery. Nurses are also trained to support clinical research activities on the unit to further develop cutting-edge treatment care.Professional development of the staff is supported through participation in classes, seminars, and conferences as well as unit councils, quality improvement projects, and community activities.Required QualificationsBachelor's Degree in NursingRegistered Nurse in the State of CaliforniaActive American Heart Association CPR CertificationOncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider StatusA minimum of 2 years of nursing management in an inpatient oncology unit academic medical center or highly matrixed organization.Strong hospital management experience, with progressive and in-depth expertise in patient care services. Knowledge of hospital/clinic operations in a hospital or medical center setting; knowledge of appropriate professional standards for the department and team.Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units and disciplines.Excellent leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines.
