Description
The Senior Geologist will lead environmental remedial investigation and stratigraphy projects throughout their life cycle, adapting plans according to budget constraints, design factors and/or client needs. The successful candidate should have a strong technical background in geology (stratigraphy, geomorphology, and/or sedimentology) as well as significant remediation investigation, consulting and project execution experience. The work required includes integration of complex, multigenerational, spatial and analytical data sets to develop and communicate the holistic conceptual site models that guide current and future groundwater remediation.
Responsibilities
Conduct research and analysis of the regional geology and depositional environments related to a project site, identifying appropriate facies models that represent subsurface conditions.
Apply Environmental Sequence Stratigraphic (ESS) methodology to complex data sets consisting of lithologic borings, down hole, and surficial geophysical data.
Work with project hydrogeologist to evaluate potentiometric data, define hydrostratigraphic units, and understand implications for contaminant fate and transport.
Plan and develop appropriate stratigraphic cross section profiles including evaluation of individual boring logs.
Perform stratigraphic interpretation of subsurface, integrating regional geology, depositional environments, and facies models.
Create and communicate geologically based conceptual site models using various platforms.
Assess soil and groundwater data, identify data gaps and develop appropriate sampling plans.
Conduct proposal and report writing for environmental projects.
Prepare and present technical reports for clients and industry publications.
Apply expert knowledge of commonly used environmental concepts and practices.
Lead preparation of work plans, investigation reports, feasibility studies, and remedial design.
Participate in project schedule, scope, budget staffing planning, and construction planning.
Participate in sales and marketing efforts and identify key pursuits.
Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the environmental engineering practice.
Responsible for QA/QC process adherence and effective communication with other disciplines.
Responsible for compliance with company and site safety policies.
All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Geology or related Environmental degree from an ABET accredited program is required.
Master's of Science in Geology with an emphasis in a stratigraphic discipline is preferred.
Minimum 7 years environmental consulting experience (preferably 10 years).
Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred.
Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Knowledge of geoscience software is essential.
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training (and annual updates) is required.
Basic knowledge of OSHA, CERCLA and remedial design.
Experience with Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments and site investigations is a plus.
Experience with State and/or Federal regulations desired.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with leading large projects and delegating work tasks.
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to work methodically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Ability to perform quality reviews for environmental reports and deliverables.
Ability to travel (potentially 20%).
Compensation$120,000.00-170,000.00 Annually
The expected compensation range is based on factors including education, qualifications, prior work experience, and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility for a discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
