Introduction to role:Are you ready to lead small molecule projects as the Medicinal Chemistry project leader? We're looking for a Principal Scientist to provide scientific leadership of PhD and BS/MS level internal medicinal chemistry and CRO resources. You'll have the opportunity to provide wider project and strategic feedback to the rapidly growing small molecule portfolio!

Accountabilities:Lead small molecule multidisciplinary projects with internal and external medicinal chemistry resources. You'll be accountable for design strategy and deliverables in lead optimization and lead generation phases. You'll work closely with biology project leads, DMPK project leads, and other scientists in small molecule research to deliver development candidates for various targets. You'll also serve as a subject matter expert in chemistry with internal and external partners and provide recommendations regarding new targets and emerging external opportunities as needed.

Essential Skills/Experience:

Ph.D. in synthetic organic or medicinal chemistry with 10 plus years of drug discovery experience

Specific experience leading projects from inception to development candidate nomination in a pharmaceutical and/or biotechnology setting

Experience scientifically leading internal and external chemistry resources as a project leader without line manager authority

Excellent communication, leadership, collaboration and interpersonal skills

Strong track record of innovation demonstrated by patent inventorship, peer-reviewed publications, and conference presentations

Experience in hit identification techniques and progressing compounds from hit identification to development candidates

Extensive CRO management experience

Experience in structure-based drug design with strong design hypothesis
