Position Overview:

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) directs and coordinates all activities concerned with the overall financial administration of the Hospital. They will oversee the functions of Accounting, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Patient Financial Services, Patient Admissions, and Supply Chain. The CFO is also responsible for the managed care operation of the hospital and the internal audit functions of all third-party cost reports and the year-end financial audits of the Hospital.

Responsibilities:

Ensures Financial Services, including treasury functions, budgeting, charge master, and financial reporting are completed accurately and timely.

Ensures Patient Financial Services, including patient billing, financial counseling, and accounts receivable management is completed accurately and efficiently.

Management of third-party payer contracts is current and managed in a fiscally responsible manner.

Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the Hospital’s fiscal function and performance.

Works in collaboration with other senior team members to prepare and submit comprehensive plans, related studies, special reports, and supervise the administration of implementation plans. These may include but are not limited to corporate compliance, Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory reporting.

Participates in annual development of the strategic planning process and on-going monitoring of the status of any strategic initiatives.

Work collaboratively with internal groups in the development of business plans for new services, enhancement, or revision of existing services and/or eliminating services rendered not needed.

Attends and provides reporting for Board of Trustee meetings, including materials applicable to relevant committees, working closely with the CEO. Responsible for management of any research and/or other follow-up actions needed. Serve as a member of the Hospital Finance and Planning Committee.

Participates in external activities, including presenting and/or attending various events, public hearings, citizen groups and legislative opportunities to promote the organization’s strategic initiatives.

Maintains membership in professional organizations as authorized by supervisor, and attends conferences, workshops, meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments in the related healthcare field as it relates to position.

Provides direct and indirect personnel leadership including timely orienting, training, evaluating, hiring, and/or any other type of personnel management activities needed for staff in supervising areas.

Ensures all staff complete the required training and receive personnel evaluations promptly.

Education and Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, a related field, or equivalent experience required.

CPA and/or master’s degree in business administration preferred.

10+ years hospital financial leadership experience including supervision of general finance, management care, reimbursement, patient financial services, and supply chain.

Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.

Ability to create and effectively present financial reports.

Ability to function independently and meet demands of extended work schedules as needed.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to understand business proformas and reimbursements of clinical services and its impact on the development of services.
