R126976 Data Governance Lead (US)Job Description SummaryWe are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Data Governance Lead to join our Asset Servicing Data Governance Team at Northern Trust. In this role, you will assist in developing and implementing data governance frameworks, ensuring our data assets are accurate, secure, and compliant with industry standards. You will work closely with the Global Head of Data Governance to identify and support data governance initiatives, help establish data management best practices, and contribute to the creation of data policies and procedures. You will also work with cross-functional business line teams. The ideal candidate will be a quick learner with strong analytical skills, mature knowledge, and keen interest in data governance, data management, and a desire to grow their expertise in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. They will also be required to be an evangelist for Data Governance and the Asset Servicing Business line across the enterprise and work with internal and external consumers and stakeholders.

Hiring RequirementsMajor Duties:

Develop tools and processes used to maintain a common data standard across the organization.

Assess, manage, and maintain strategies that reduce data redundancy and increase the consistency/confidence of data used for decision-making; improving knowledge firm-wide.

Define and deliver data management standards, processes, controls, and content for the creation and maintenance of common data dictionaries.

Participate in periodic reviews to ensure continued compliance with the data governance policies (includes compliance assessments, monitoring, and control testing).

Resolve conflicting priorities among data owners, data consumers, and custodians within the sphere of the domain.

Drive efficiency and risk mitigation through balancing business value and cost working with data owners and consumers to deliver an efficient operating model and data architecture.

Collaborate with partners across the organization in maintaining the data governance and data quality structures ensuring we are meeting business needs while balancing quality, risk, and cost.

Coordinate and implement data quality remediation efforts to ensure data meets the standards identified by the enterprise.

Act as an experienced, functional expert with technical and/or business knowledge and functional expertise.

Carry out complex initiatives involving multiple disciplines and/or ambiguous issues.

Display a balanced, cross-functional perspective, liaising with the business to help improve efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.

Be strategic in developing, implementing, and administering programs within functional areas.

Provide leadership and guidance to staff, fostering an environment that encourages employee participation, teamwork, and communication.

Knowledge:

Strong Data Governance Tooling experience, preferably Collibra.

Knowledge of the Financial Service sector and understanding of how different business lines work together.

Strong understanding and capable of effectively communicating the role of Data Governance to both business and technical communities within the sphere of data domain; possess broad knowledge of the domain data.

Understand key business drivers of those functions which enter, modify, manage, and consume the data within the domain.

Understand all aspects of defining and implementing data quality management.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Possess proven facilitation and conflict resolution skills.

Possess exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
