Our portfolio of life-changing technologies spans the spectrum of healthcare, with leading businesses and products in diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals and branded generic medicines.JOB DESCRIPTION:We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Data Solutions Architect to lead the data architecture initiatives for our clinical solutions in the Abbott Medical Devices division. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in data integration, data pipelines, and application architecture with emphasis on cloud-based solutions. This role requires a strategic thinker who can design and implement robust data solutions that drive business value and innovation.WHAT YOU’LL DOResponsible for analyzing customer needs (via use cases, requirements, or like) and identifying the required architectural facets.Responsible for technical leadership, design and development of contemporary platform architectures such as Microservices, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Web, Mobile, and AI/ML.Instrumental in the advocacy, research, development, and integration of best-in-class architecture and/or architecture components to build differentiated informatics solutions that support global clinical trial operations within the Medical Devices business.Create and maintain documentation for the artifacts created during the SDLC.Develop initial architecture specifications and build architecture artifacts and prototypes as necessary to identify risk and effort during development of applications that employ the architecture.Participate in the development of frameworks and subsystems, deploy distributed architectures and protocols; build high-performance, scalable and secure application servers; create and deploy high-performance data analytics, create and maintain the APIs (Application Programming Interfaces); establish and delegate work packages to software developers and testers, lead the core engineering efforts on informatics programs and serve as the lead reviewer of work products that are deployed on the software architecture.Develop and maintain data pipelines to support real-time and batch data processing.Ensuring the continuous improvement and iterative evolution of the architecture.Conceive plans, execute, and track architecture-related development projects.Serve as a lead, if necessary, on internal development programs and OEM / co-development programs per the relevant Quality and Regulatory requirements.Responsible for designing and developing informatics products in compliance with internal policies and procedures, as well as both US and foreign regulatory standards and requirements.Accountable for the architecture of one or more informatics products as assigned on individual programs.Will lead and oversee software developers responsible for implementation of the architecture and applications that are deployed on the architecture.Will interact with project managers and Clinical Solutions leadership on project scope, timeline, risks, and budget.Will lead and oversee development efforts using Agile development frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.Collaborate with cross-functional teams in Global Marketing, Research & Development, Information Technology, Quality, Operations, Regulatory and Business Development to deliver informatics products.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRINGRequired:BS degree in one or more following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Informatics, Symbolic Systems, Mathematics or Physics.A minimum 10 years

of data architecture, data integration, and data pipeline development.Proficiency in programming languages such as C#.Proficiency in database programming languages (e.g., SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL).Proven experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark).Event streaming technologies such as Azure Event Hub, Apache Kafka.Must possess good oral and written communication skills.Preferred:Master's degree in one or more of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Informatics, Symbolic Systems, Mathematics, or Physics, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.Have experience developing and launching unique software products in healthcare.Abbott is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to employee diversity.
