DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the VC-CFO, Information Technology Services (ITS) delivers Enterprise information technology services to the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) under the leadership of the campus Chief Information Officer (CIO). Information Technology Services (IT Services) uses world-class services and technologies to empower UC San Diego's mission to transform California and the world as a student-centered, research-focused, service-oriented public university. As a strategic member of the UC San Diego community, IT Services embraces innovation in their delivery of IT services, infrastructure, applications, and support.Workplace Technology Services (WTS) is responsible for adopting, deploying, and maintaining campus-wide workplace services for faculty, staff, and students. This includes email, calendaring, web content management, signature, mobile technologies, collaboration services, and business intelligence.The Business Intelligence team develops, maintains and implements applications and capabilities that support the easy and timely access and utilization of enterprise data through a read-only central repository and supporting toolsets.POSITION OVERVIEW:Having significant experience, applies advanced data / information management concepts and campus / medical center / OP objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analyses of situations, information or data require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods and techniques to obtain desired results. The position is also responsible for collecting customer BI requirements, developing related solutions, coordinating testing including user acceptance and overseeing related implementation.Responsible for designing and developing activity hub views, including Final Curated Views (FCVs), to support analytics and operations across the campus. This position involves designing and managing the automation of Activity Hub metadata creation and feedback mechanisms for the Generative AI Platform. Responsibilities include developing and overseeing activity hub stored procedures, tables, and views for API and platform access. The role also encompasses integrating advanced analytics capabilities, including machine learning and AI, within activity hubs. Additionally, the position requires creating autonomic, self-healing routines to enhance BI and database team productivity.Responsibilities:Plans and conducts data analysis efforts for highly complex small and medium-sized projects that may include managing partnerships between multiple institutions. Establishes or maintains information documentation standards such as data naming standards and value domain descriptions. Schedules and conducts analysis sessions. Documents ownership, custody and access requirements for data subject areas. Responsible to A) Identify data sources B) Identify specific source objects C) Document data relationships required for sourcing and D) Coordinate data sourcing information with local SMEs. Initiates and designs for diverse data and data systems.

Develops full data / information documentation for highly complex small and medium-size projects. Responsible for documenting requirements for new and enhancements for existing Activity Hub views. This process involves in depth review of disparate data sources containing all types of institutional information.

Coordinates reviews of data models and data definitions. Develops both conceptual and detailed data models for projects. Develops dimensional models for data subject areas. Creates and manages workflows (including ETL, data curation and others). Documents curated view design and stored procedure process flows.

Provides escalation level support for users of the activity hubs. Responds to issues escalated from first tier support to assure data is available and understood by campus analysts. Confirms any reported bugs and resolves.

Design and manage the activity hub stored procedures, activity tables and views related to API access as well as Generative AI Platform access.

Design and manage advanced analytics capabilities, including machine learning and AI within activity hubs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Excellent SQL skills including development and performance tuning.

Proven modeling and information design skills. Skilled in developing and managing stored procedures, tables, and views for API and platform access.

Ability to prepare complex data models unassisted. Experience with machine learning and AI related technologies to support analysis and predictive analytics.

Familiarity with highly complex logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION:

Experience with columnar, in memory databases.

Experience with data models supporting self-service reporting.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
