The Director, Business Development – Branded Specialty is responsible for identifying and evaluating Branded Specialty (non-generic) products and companies to in-license or acquire, leading the necessary due diligence required to evaluate the opportunity, developing a comprehensive opportunity assessment, model, valuation, and deal structure with the support of the respective functional and commercial teams, and negotiating collaboration, licensing, and M&A agreements. This person reports to the Vice President, Corporate Development and must work closely with the Corporate Development team, Territory Presidents, and various Functional area leads across the organization.Job Responsibilities

Conduct search and evaluation activities to identify branded pharmaceutical licensing opportunities, acquisitions, and strategic collaborations, in key therapeutic areas of strategic interest.Research, integrate and translate market research insights into opportunities and strategies that shape decisions, drive organizational action, and lead to new business development deals.Lead the assessments of business opportunities including completing an in-depth review, due diligence, valuation, and summary commercial assessment with the support of cross-functional teams.Develop and support the execution of complex analytics to assess opportunities including financial modeling, NPV analysis, and comparable deal analysis.Coordinate and interface diligence teams cross-functionally for business development deals providing strong project management skills to ensure that key risks and opportunities are identified, captured, and presented to senior management for decision making.Develop deal structures and financial terms for potential deals.Support the negotiation of transaction term sheets and definitive agreements that utilize creative deal structures and processes that result in business success and maximum value.Independently manage and prioritize BD&L pipeline and activities in accordance with strategic priorities.Support the strategy development of the Branded Specialty portfolio for maximum value creation that aligns with the broader company strategy.Perform market research and understand the commercial market, dynamics and competitive landscape in Apotex’s targeted Therapeutic Areas.Establish external partnerships with branded companies and continuously strengthen broad industry network to secure the identification of the most attractive partnering opportunities.Conduct M&A assessments for US and Canadian companies.Proactively monitor the external business environment and maintain a knowledge base of licensing and M&A transactions and other company activities.Ensures compliance with all Company policies and procedures including safety rules and regulations.Operates in accordance with our Code of Conduct and Business Ethics, and all established regulatory, compliance and safety requirements.Performs all work in support of our Values: Collaboration, Courage, Perseverance, and Passion.All other relevant duties as assigned.Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor’s degree in business and/or science.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Demonstrated knowledge in research, development and commercialization process in the pharmaceutical industry with the ability to effectively collaborate with Commercial and R&D leadership team.Strong business acumen, financial modeling and valuation methodologies.Deal sheet to showcase negotiation skills and established networks in the pharmaceutical industry.Knowledgeable in deal structuring.Strong interpersonal skills with ability to align internal stakeholders and to externally represent Apotex as a partner-of-choice.Ability to communicate complex information clearly, effective creator and presenter of executive and functional information.Excellent networking, relationship, and partner-facing skills.Skilled in working collaboratively across functions.Ability to work with agility and urgency to solve problems.Demonstrated strategic thinking skills and strong attention to detail.Energetic, results-oriented, self-starter with strong executive presence.Able to prioritize and complete multiple competing demands.Thrives in a fast-paced organization.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, IQVIA and knowledge of existing data sources in the pharma industry.

Experience

6+ years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry within corporate development / business development, investment banking, private equity, or management consulting.Experience in identifying and evaluating branded specialty pharmaceutical or biotech products for potential licensing / acquisition.Experience in completing due diligence assessments.
