Job Description SummaryThe Associate Director, Advanced Standing Programs provides administrative support to all graduate programs with an advanced standing program. These programs are unique ways for undergraduate students to be admitted into and begin to progress through graduate programs while still completing their undergraduate degree at Bentley University. The Associate Director reports to the Director of Graduate Academic Advising and Engagement with a dotted line to all graduate program directors. The position is both external and internal facing, engaging with prospective students and their families. The Associate Director collaborates extensively with colleagues in Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions, Academic Affairs leadership—especially Deans and Associate Deans—, academic department chairs, Undergraduate and Graduate Academic Advising, the university Registrar, university Marketing and Communication, and most importantly, graduate program directors. The Associate Director engages directly and frequently with undergraduate students. The Associate Director ensures policies and procedures related to advanced standing programs are fair and equitable and works to ensure equitable student success outcomes for students enrolled in all programs.Essential DutiesMarketing and Recruitment:Collaborate with academic departments and graduate program directors to design a strategy for marketing the advanced standing pathways to prospective and current undergraduate students.Collaborate with University Marketing and Communications (MarCom) to design marketing materials to prospective and current undergraduate students.In concert with MarComm, maintain all reference to advanced standing pathways on the university’s website and digital presence across paid and social media.Collaborate with Undergraduate Admissions to promote the advanced standing pathways to prospective students.Collaborate with academic departments, student organizations, and administrative offices across campus to promote advanced standing pathways to current undergraduate students, including hosting or co-hosting information sessions and similar events.Serve as the primary point person on and off campus to students and families interested in the advanced standing pathways, answering inquiries in all their forms.Collaborate with academic administration and graduate program directors to set admissions goals for advanced standing pathways each year; develop a plan to reach annual admissions goals; create an annual admissions report to Enrollment Management and Academic Affairs leadership.Admissions:Collaborate with the graduate program directors and academic administration to set application deadlines and update application instructions and requirements as necessary.Manage the application process for all advanced standing pathways, remind students of application deadlines, ensure applications are complete, and assist graduate program directors in reading and evaluating applications.Notify students of admissions decisions and update Slate and other systems/offices as necessary.Manage the deposit process for admitted students.Provide orientation for newly admitted students, explaining course selection, policies, classroom behavior and academic expectations, etc.Provide input to the Registrar, academic departments, graduate program directors, and Deans on how enrollment in each program affects course scheduling.Program Management:Serve as an expert in curricular requirements of each advanced standing pathway.Assist graduate program directors on implementing curricular changes; update and train relevant parties of curricular changes when they occur.Monitor student progression through advanced standing pathways; direct students to Undergraduate and/or Graduate Academic Advising when their timely progression through their advanced standing program is in jeopardy.Ensure students and faculty are adhering to relevant academic policy; advise students on how to appeal policy when appropriate.Ensure students adhere to relevant curricular requirements and refer them to graduate program directors and/or academic advising (undergraduate or graduate) as appropriate.Track student performance in advanced standing programs; create annual reports of student success indicators.Collaborate with Undergraduate Academic Advising and Graduate Academic Advising and Engagement to ensure students in advanced standing programs are sufficiently supported by both offices and that staff is up to date on curricular requirements of each pathway.Coordinate with Graduate Career Development to identify student opportunities such as internships, jobs, projects, appropriate for students preparing to apply for graduate programs through the advanced standing programs or currently enrolled in the program.Advise graduate program directors, department chairs, and academic administrators on recommended changes to advanced standing pathways that would improve the student and faculty educational experience and increase equity in that experience.Other DutiesRepresent advanced standing programs and graduate programs at admissions events.Support graduate program directors in evaluating and assessing advanced standing programs.Provide financial reports related to advanced standing programs.Minimum QualificationsMaster’s degree in education, counseling, marketing, or related fields.3-5 years’ work experience.High attention to detail.Ability to multi-task and work on multiple projects simultaneously.Excellent public speaking skills.Ability to work independently and in a self-directed manner.Ability to support Bentley’s values and diversity, equity, and inclusion strategy.Work EnvironmentTypical office setting with extensive sitting and computer work.Occasional travel to recruiting functions and professional development conferences and seminars.Occasional weekend and evening work is required.Bentley University requires references checks and may conduct other pre-employment screening.DIVERSITY STATEMENTBentley University strives to create a campus community that welcomes the exchange of ideas, and fosters a culture that values differences and views them as a strength in our community.Bentley University is an Equal Opportunity Employer, building strength through diversity.
