Vagaro is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to oversee our General Accounting, Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) functions. This is a hands-on role that requires working closely with the entire accounting department and contributing to balance sheet reconciliations, general accounting entries, and the audit process. The successful candidate will also be responsible for flux analysis and other ad hoc projects as assigned.
Position reports to Pleasanton, CA - Onsite position
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable teams, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies and procedures to improve the efficiency of Accounting processes.
Assist with balance sheet reconciliations, perform general accounting entries, and support month-end and year-end closings.
Conduct flux analysis to identify significant variances in financial statements and provide insights on financial performance.
Work closely with external auditors and tax teams to manage the audit process and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Collaborate with other departments such as sales, legal, and marketing to ensure that all contracts are properly recorded and revenue recognition is accurate and compliant.
Provide technical accounting guidance, particularly in areas related to revenue recognition, accruals, and complex transactions.
Lead the month-end and year-end closing activities related to AP/AR.
Take ownership of ad hoc projects as assigned by senior management, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
Mentor and manage accounting team (AP/AR professionals), ensuring continuous development and training.
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices within the accounting function.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required. MBA preferred.
CPA certification is a plus.
Minimum of 3-4 years of management experience in accounting, with a strong focus on AP/AR functions.
Solid understanding of technical accounting principles and practices.
Experience working at Big 4 is a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting standards.
Experience with balance sheet reconciliations, flux analysis, general accounting entries, and audit processes.
Familiarity with sales tax filing and revenue recognition principles.
Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and ensure accurate contract recording and revenue recognition.
Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Experience with NetSuite ERP systems required.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
