Responsibilities:The Director, Strategy and Planning will be directly responsible for the long-term planning and optimizing the utilization of the Terminal facilities. This includes capacity and forecast modelling to support terminal operations and strategic decision making of SFOTEC. The Director, Strategy and Planning is responsible for identifying any potential operational or facilitation challenges that may occur based upon information gathered from the airlines that operate at SFO and other industry sources.

The Director, Strategy and Planning will, from time to time, provide the Managing Director with reports, accomplishments, and issues related to the operations of SFOTEC. The Director, Strategy and Performance Management will seek approval from Managing Director as necessary, to proceed with specific actions to be taken during the daily management of SFOTEC.

The Director, Strategy and Planning will collaborate closely with the Director, Operations to ensure the success of SFOTEC. Additional responsibilities of the Director, Strategy and Planning include but are not limited to the following:

Represent the Managing Director and SFOTEC leadership as necessary.

Familiarity with the operative documents related to SFOTEC, including leases, contracts, agreements, and all other aspects of the Terminal Facilities.

Development and facilitation of internal and external relationships including, but not limited to the following parties:

SFOTEC Executive Committee

SFOTEC Member Airlines

Non-Member Airlines

SFOTEC Service Contractors

SFO International Airport Authority (SFIAA)

San Francisco Police Department (SFPD)

FIS Agencies

US Department of Homeland Security/Transportation Security Administration

Federal Aviation Administration

Third Party Organizations (Consultants, Attorneys, Accountants, Auditors, etc.)

SFO Community at large

Provide leadership, and direction to the operations department and contracted service provider staff fostering a positive, high-performing work environment.

Collaborate with the SFOTEC Executive Committee, leadership, and related departments to ensure transparency and complete alignment concerning the strategic objectives/direction of SFOTEC.

Monitor, track, and provide daily/monthly performance metric data (Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)) of all SFOTEC service partners to the Managing Director.

Ensure that SFOTEC resources are effectively allocated to achieve these objectives.

Frequently evaluate job descriptions for each position within oversight responsibility and amend when needed.

Recruit for any vacant positions, subject to consultation with the SFOTEC Managing Director.

Forecast capacity plans for SFOTEC on a seasonal basis (gates, hardstands, check-in, recheck, inbound baggage carousels, outbound baggage make-up units).

Forecast for FIS, Security Checkpoint and Re-Check passenger volumes, as well as estimated In-line Baggage Screening demand.

Work with existing carriers wanting to add service by conducting capacity assessments and providing recommendations/insight on flight times.

Coordinate ad-hoc flight requests.

Represent SFOTEC at aviation networking events as well as the IATA Slot Conference.

Prepare monthly updates to the capacity plans.

Create monthly and annual flight/passenger forecasts.

Review any pre-planned facility closures or maintenance for possible operational impact. Offer recommendations that could mitigate any disruption.

Coordinate with the Manager, Equipment and Facility Maintenance concerning the investment required from SFIAA for the Terminal equipment, systems, and facility.

Follow up with SFIAA concerning the status of recommendations in the Annual Technology Report. Analyze data to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement in performance.

Develop and oversee processes to monitor and evaluate organizational performance against strategic objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

Report monthly KPI performance metrics to the Managing Director, SFOTEC Executive Committee, and SFIAA.

Prepare and conduct the Request for Proposal (RFP) process for SFOTEC third party service provider support.

Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director or SFOTEC Executive Committee.

Qualifications:EXPERIENCE

8+ years of leadership experience

BA/BS Business; MA/MS or MBA a plus

Strong strategic thinking, planning, and analytical abilities

In-depth knowledge and management experience in commercial aviation required

Naturally collaborative team player with excellent communication skills

Demonstrated success in driving business growth
