About the Role The Creative Director is a masterful storyteller, who believes in the power of creativity to shift minds and build emotional connections as we look to cultivate champions who want to work for, shop with and invest in our house of iconic American brands. They will work closely with Gap Inc. executive leadership, raising the bar on the corporate brand’s creative excellence and enabling and empowering their team to do their best work. They bring vision, have deep brand and design experience and lead with strategic orientation.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned creative leader who can develop impactful campaigns spanning physical, multimedia, digital, and immersive experiences fueled by audience and competitive insights to enhance company brand perception. They are tapped into culture, fashion and creative networks, remaining curious, constantly evolving their craft, and embracing emerging techniques and tools to strengthen their work and teams’ impact.

As we establish an elevated corporate brand narrative and aesthetic, the Creative Director will serve as an arbiter of exceptional taste and will be a creator with their team, while inspiring, mentoring and guiding talent to deliver strong creative and experiences. This role will oversee ideation, creation, management, and production of large corporate brand-building campaigns and engaging social media content to event asset development and employer brand collateral.

Most importantly, this person must be a source of inspiration, design leadership, and hands-on brand building for the Gap Inc. Creative team—both as a creator and as a leader.

Reports to SVP, Communications & Engagement What You'll Do

Leads the ideation process and visualizes campaign concepts by bringing ideas to life through sketching, storyboarding, design, copywriting, wireframing, and/or prototyping.Concept and oversee end-to-end creative development to ensure quality and style align to brand guidelines and campaign objectives.Own end to end creative workflow, inclusive of process, tools and stakeholder engagement.Inspire great design within your team, and ability to influence others to drive efficient decision-making.Manage and prioritize creative resources (internal and freelance) to meet and balance competing needs from a variety of stakeholders in partnership with a Creative Producer reporting to this role.Partner with Communication teams to ideate and merge creative needs with strategic insight.Oversee the development of creative assets to be leveraged across paid and owned platforms, inclusive of but not limited to website/careers page, Intranet, social media campaign assets (animation, still, video, platform-specific activations, etc.)Oversee all video and photo concepting and production in partnership with the Creative Producer, supporting ongoing needs and large-scale shoots that support Gap Inc. projects and campaigns.Design targeted on-brand employee experiences (in partnership with Talent Management) that enable redesign the employee experience to manifest our purpose (ie. Future of onboarding).Interact in a positive, professional, collaborative, and motivating mannerCollaborate with key stakeholders to ensure delivery of on-time, high-quality deliverables that address all relevant project requirementsDesign with versatility and constantly seek new and innovative ways to elevate creativityWho You Are

12+ years of experience in creative roles across physical and digital experience design. Plus, if motion, animation and sound design, UX/UI design, multimediaDemonstrated leadership ability, familiarity with the role—having held a Creative Director position previously. Ideally a minimum of 5+ years managing studio team of diverse creative talentImpressive portfolio showing best-in-class solutionsAbility to lead creative ideation and execution end-to-endDemonstrated experience collecting and synthesizing input from stakeholders, uncovering insights, understanding business and communication priorities, and translate into creative, differentiating solutions grounded in strategyBrings deep knowledge of emerging trends in creativity and demonstrates the ability to balance visionary thinking and business priorities and performance resultsAbility to infuse strategy and storytelling in creative presentations to explain intent, inspiration and defend a point of view to drive decision-makingStrong storyteller and presenter, demonstrating the ability to take complex business topics and create compelling narrativesExecutive presence and experience interfacing with and influencing senior leadersPeople first mentality; creating and executing plans and solutions with the target audience in mind bringing an excellent understanding of corporate end users – employees, investors, media, customersUnderstanding of user/audience journey mapping and experience design (across physical, digital and human interactions) and is focused on elevating and connecting all touchpointsAbility to effectively communicate with, listen to, collaborate, and build relationships with a diverse range of people and job functions within evolving scope and competing deadlines.
