Forward Slope currently has a full-time position for a Software Engineer to join our Professional Service team. The position is located in San Diego, CA.

Job Description:

The Software Engineer provides support for Meteorological and Oceanographic (METOC) systems which include the Naval Integrated Tactical Environmental System – Next Generation (NITES-NEXT), Naval Integrated Tactical Environmental System – IV (NITES-IV), Meteorological Mobile Facility (Replacement) Next Generation (METMF(R) NEXGEN), and Hazardous Weather Detection and Display Capability (HWDDC).Responsibilities Include:

Provide software configuration, integration and testing, security patching, software sustainment, system back-ups and restoration procedures for end users.Develop, test, and package IAVA patches on Red Hat Linux in order to resolve and meet Cybersecurity compliance using the Enterprise Change Request (ECR) process.Provide updates and revisions to technical documentation including, but not limited to Engineering Change Bulletins (ECBs), Software Installation Guides (SIGs), and System Administrator Guides (SAGs).Provide RMF and Fleet Support to the end users.Maintain cybersecurity through the use of ACAS scans, utilizing VRAM, producing STIGS, and conducting vulnerability assessments of planned and installed information systems to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and protection needs.Use JIRA, Confluence, and CMPRO for documentation and to track work tasks.Perform Test Coordination, Software PMS, and EDM maintenance.Required Qualifications:

Knowledge and experience working with Unix/Red Hat Linux OS in a system administrative role and in developing bash scripts.Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science or related field.Information Assurance Workforce (IAWF) Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II.0 - 2 years of experience in the design, development, and integration of commercial and Government developed software.Currently hold an active U.S. security clearance or be able to obtain one.Hold or be able to obtain an IAT Level II certification such as CompTIA Security + CE or other.Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge/experience with the Vulnerability Remediation Asset Manager (VRAM) and the DON Applications and Database Management System (DADMS).Experience applying DoD Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG) and Security Requirements Guides (SRGs), DoD Instruction, DoDI 8551.01, and ability to perform vulnerability assessments in accordance with DoD Ports, Protocols, and Services Management (PPSM) guidelines.METOC software/engineering and shipboard experience strongly preferred.Demonstrated ability to understand and communicate technical information.Ability to communicate effectively and has strong interpersonal skills for professional interaction with the team.*Salary Range:
