Job Summary

The Executive Director is a full-time position that will be accountable to the Board of Directors, responsible for the operations, staffing, finances, direction, and administration of Peace Preparatory Academy. The Executive Director will support the goals and objectives of Peace Preparatory Academy through strategic and visionary leadership in the areas of leadership development, vision stewardship, fiscal stewardship, and board development. This position will serve as the primary spokesperson for the organization representing Peace Preparatory Academy in educational, religious and fundraising settings.

Responsibilities

Leadership Development:

Manages Peace Preparatory Academy and staff in line with the established goals and objectives expressed in the school’s vision and commitment.

Provides strategic leadership and counsel to the Principal, Director of Development, and Director of Operations.

Provides feedback structure and formal evaluations for organization leadership.

In collaboration with the leadership team (Director of Operations, Director of Development, Principal), sets annual staffing plans and consideration of strategic hires.

Meets regularly with Principal and Directors to build plans, make collaborative decisions, and review progress toward strategic objectives.

Routinely assesses the academic performance of the school and students at-large with the goal of continuously improving process and results.

Vision Stewardship:

Provides visionary leadership to full staff at joint training sessions throughout the year.

Provides inspiration and pastoral care to staff through all-staff communications and regular interpersonal interactions and relationship building.

Represents Peace Preparatory Academy in the broader community through public writing, networking, and speaking opportunities.

Maintains visibility and credibility of Peace Prep in school and community at large.

Engages in English Avenue neighborhood events and community happenings.

Fiscal Stewardship:

Provide the strategy and operational oversight for the annual comprehensive fundraising strategy for the school, working in concert with the Director of Development.

Formulates and monitors an annual budget in conjunction with the leadership team (Director of Operations, Director of Development, Principal).

Implements short- and long-term fundraising strategies related to balancing operating expenses, building a financial reserve and allocating funds to major capital projects.

Attends and actively participates in the solicitation of individual, foundation, and corporate donors through in-person visits and off-site visits and events.

Nurtures relationships with donors and potential donors through visits and updates on programming to promote deeper engagement in the organization.

Manages and stewards a portfolio of highly influential donors and partners as assigned by the Director of Development.

Oversees the strategy to retain and grow annual and major gift donor base. In collaboration with the Principal and Director of Development, assist in the coordination and hospitality for all large-group volunteer efforts.

Works in collaboration with Development Team in coordinating special events including site visits/tours, Annual Fundraiser Event, and other fundraising events.

Provides content and written copy for all donor related communications. (Example: Newsletter, Segment updates, etc.)

Board Development:

Acts as an

ex officio

member of the board, attending all board meetings including scheduled Board of Directors meetings (6 per year), Executive Committee Meetings (6 per year), and special called meetings as needed.

In collaboration with the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors, provide recommendations and input in building the annual objectives for the Board of Directors and all subcommittees.

In collaboration with the Board of Directors, creates the board agenda for meetings. Assists in the recruitment and development of Board Members.

Maintains regular communications with the Board of Directors through weekly updates that include cash balance, school updates and key highlights.

Education/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Five years of experience in K-5 education.

Extensive experience leading a diverse team.

Familiarity with organizational budget management and fundraising.

Demonstrated ability to equip leaders and invest in staff development.

Working Hours

School Year Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm.

Summer Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 2 days in the office.

Evenings and weekends as needed for special events and projects.

Salary Range

$100,000-$125,000
