We are seeking an experienced development professional to support Individual Giving and Major Gifts for AUSL. In this role, you will manage and solicit a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects, in partnership with AUSL leadership and other staff. Work closely with the Chicago Teacher Residency and LiberatED Way Advisory Services to further collaborative efforts to raise philanthropic dollars for AUSL. In this role, you will join our passionate and dedicated External Relations team, report to the Chief of External Relations, and play a key role in building relationships with new supporters to secure unrestricted and programmatic funding.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage a portfolio of 120 prospects and donors, to retain current major gift donors in an assigned portfolio and qualify new donors, with a focus on soliciting gifts of $10k+ for unrestricted and programmatic funding. Make a minimum of 30 asks in the first year.

Communicate weekly with a minimum of 5 donors or prospects in the portfolio through emails, calls, and visits; track activities and progress in Raisers Edge.

Travel both regionally and nationally to complete a target number of prospect/donor visits and solicitations annually.

Contribute to the Development team’s annual fundraising goal of $3.4M and collaborate closely with the Chief of External Relations and Senior Director of Development to ensure AUSL meets its annual budget.

Cultivate ongoing relationships with donors and prospects to ensure an understanding of giving priorities being in alignment with the mission and strategy of AUSL.

Develop content for various types of individual/major giving donor engagement communication.

Assist senior leadership with preparation for prospect meetings, including written donor strategy, talking points, and materials.

Organize, in partnership with other staff, cultivation, and engagement events to recognize donors.

Track solicitations, anticipated gifts, and pledges to provide regular revenue updates on projections and actual results.

Use Raisers Edge to manage portfolio and prospect information.

The ideal candidate:

Bachelor’s Degree required

5-8 years of frontline experience and expertise in developing successful individual major gift portfolios, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Passion for AUSL’s mission

Thrives on building new relationships, deepening existing ones, and guiding donors through cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.

Ability to travel regionally and nationally.

The application deadline for this role is July 22. We seek to have the new Director of Individual Giving & Major Gifts on board by August 30, 2024.

The Salary Range for this role is $105,000-$115,000.
