The Staff Accountant reports to a Manager, Accounting and is responsible for a variety of accounting functions such as performing accurate and timely Monthly Journal Entry Preparation, General Ledger Account Reconciliation and Schedule Maintenance, Bank Reconciliations, Audits and Reporting. The ability to generate reports by pulling data from multiple systems, consolidating, and analyzing the data is required. Critical thinking and adherence to internal deadlines as well as state required deadlines is a must.What will you do? (Job Duties)

Support timely monthly/quarterly financial close, including recording assigned journal entries, completing balance sheet/GL account reconciliations, accruals, and overall maintenance of all operational management accountsAccurate and timely preparation and maintenance of MGA/PA reporting templates, with commentary explaining results and analyzing variances and trendsProvide audit support and fulfill SOX/internal control requests from internal and external auditorsResearch and analyze financial variances as a result of premium reconciliation process and report appropriate corrective actionStandardize and document the most efficient reconciliation processesMaintain accurate and organized paper and electronic files with supporting documentsEnsure data integrity by maintaining appropriate controls for audit verificationMonitor and age the monthly premium reconciliation process for financial reportingKeep updated with the latest methodologies, procedures, and client-specific informationCoordinate premium reconciliation on a monthly basis to meet contractual or other specified deadlinesInterface with internal staff to resolve system issues affecting the premium reconciliation process and timetableOther duties as assigned or requestedRequirements

What we are looking for: (Experience)

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent2+ years of professional experienceMinimum of 2 years’ experience required - insurance industry preferredFamiliarity with Microsoft Office- Excel (Pivot Tables, Lookups, Formulas), Word, PowerPoint, and OutlookAbility to organize, self-prioritize, multi-task and be a self-starter in a fast-paced environment with demanding internal and external deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills and attention to detail a mustWe love people who want to:

The above pay range is for all US-based roles based on function and level, benchmarked against companies of similar size and scope. To be compliant with local legislation as well as provide greater transparency to candidates, we disclose salary ranges on all job postings regardless of the desired job location. We also offer a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and the opportunity for annual long-term incentive stock grants. In addition, we offer a highly competitive benefits package.
