At Cumming Group, you will work on some of the world's most exciting projects in a dynamic environment where your success is measured by the impact you make. We are currently searching for a Construction Manager in the greater Bay Area with Public School experience primarily for k-12 school districts. The Ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 plus years’ experience, familiarity with public construction processes and who possesses good administrative, communication, organizational writing, and computer skills. This position requires the necessary experience in this specialty field or in a related area. Ability to commute to Project site(s) within Bay Area. The Construction Manager is responsible for managing and ensuring site safety and has a comprehensive knowledge in the day-to-day execution for their assigned project(s) including managing, coordinating, and supervising general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and personnel to ensure the work is completed on time, within budget, while adhering to the quality standards and client satisfaction. Manages and responsible for the ongoing analysis of the project contingencies; overall project schedule and ensures milestones are met.Responsibilities
Ensures that the project team understands the aspects of the contract that relate to their specific responsibilities and demonstrates a thorough understanding of the contract checklist.Identifies the high-risk provisions in the contract and implements project specific practices to mitigate risk.Comprehensive knowledge of contract documents, including reading and writing subcontracts.Manages all document control of RFI submittals, change orders, correspondence, permits, drawings, specs, and reports in a systematic and traceable manner.Prepares and manages monthly billing processes.Reviews the timely approval of all change orders and billings, and cost control budget adjustments.Responsible for all aspects of the cost report and completes timely submittal of cost reports and effectively communicates risk and projections to senior management.Manages and publishes project schedule on a weekly basis.Participates in the development and creation of the baseline schedule and provides weekly updates to the schedule.Qualifications
BA or BS in Architecture, Engineering, Urban Planning, Construction Management, or a closely related field. Candidates who do not meet the education requirement may substitute additional experience on a year for year basis.10+ years' of experience in management of multiple construction projects; experience within a large capital improvement program and familiarity with relevant Public Codes.A minimum of 2 years' of prior experience in Educational Facility Construction highly preferred.Experience with Division of the State Architect (DSA) construction/design processes or similar.
