Primary PurposeThe Director of Annual Giving is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating a strategic annual giving program that enhances the overall culture of philanthropy at University of the Pacific. The Director oversees a comprehensive program that serves as the foundation of future fundraising success by developing and growing a philanthropic connection with alumni, parents, employees, students, and friends. The Director will lead and manage a multi-channel, data-driven approach that includes, but is not limited to, mail, email, phone, text, Day of Giving, crowdfunding, student campaigns, and college and alumni specific giving projects.Essential Functions

Plans, directs, and oversees all aspects of the university’s centralized Annual Giving Program focused on achieving annual fundraising and KPIs goals, pipeline development and implementing industry best practices with special emphasis on the university’s annual fund.Develops a comprehensive annual giving fundraising plan to acquire, re-activate, retain, and upgrade annual donors with a focus on expanding the university’s base of support and growing retention rates, including strategies to incorporate employee, parent, and student giving.Oversees all multi-channel solicitations, donor engagement activities, and targeted campaigns, including mail, email, phone, text, crowdfunding, in-person activities and special projects.Supervises Assistant Directors of Annual Giving (3 FTE), to grow revenue and donor counts.In collaboration with Advancement Services, designs, and maintains annual giving reporting to analyze trends and drive strategic planning of fundraising efforts.Develops strong collaborations across schools, units, and programs to streamline activities, grow annual support, and engage more constituents.Establishes key partnerships with units throughout the division, including advancement services, alumni relations, and donor communications to reach annual giving goals.Plays a key role in executing the university’s annual day of giving, Pacific Gives.Supervises the relationship between the University and outside vendors to ensure quality control and effectiveness of mail/phone/text solicitation programs.Performs other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.Three (3) years of fundraising experience.Preferred Qualifications

Strong leadership, managerial and supervisory skills, and a track record of success in leading and mentoring a staff of fundraising professionals.Knowledge of fundraising principles and proven success in developing annual giving development plans, especially within an educational organization.Experience improving donor retention and acquisition and developing strategies to increase average gift amounts.A commitment to higher education, understanding of university academics and scholarship and ability to articulate a compelling case for annual discretionary support of private higher education and student life.Demonstrated experience and interest in personal solicitation of annual gifts as well as volunteer management and motivation.Experience with preparing and presenting complex data to internal and external audiences.Demonstrated experience writing appeal solicitations and stewardship communications.Ability to develop and monitor budgets and schedules.Intermediate experience using computer software programs, including MS Office Suite and CRM database programs.Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment with use of computer and phone. Work scheduled during standard business hours, evening and weekends required periodically to accommodate business needs. Occasional travel both local and overnight. Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $90,000 – $95,000 per year.
