Overview

This position provides leadership for the Correctional Ministries Institute (CMI) and the Colson Scholarship Program. The Director of CMI reports to the Executive Director, or designee, of the Wheaton College Billy Graham Center. The hours of this position are 40 hrs/week, 12 months/yr., including early mornings, nights, and weekends and travel for speaking and events.

Wheaton College Billy Graham Center is accepting applications for this role, with an anticipated start date of May 2025.

Duties and Responsibilities

Provide supervision and oversight of all department staff and programs.

Provide oversight, leadership, and serve as Correctional Ministries and Chaplains Association Director (CMCA) in the absence of a CMCA Director.

Provide leadership, teaching, and curriculum development for continuing education.

Coordinate research projects in partnership with other correctional ministries that enhance the field directly through publishing and curriculum development.

Develop personal contact with correctional ministry leaders throughout America and globally.

Convene consultations, workshops, seminars, and conferences to equip prison ministry professionals and volunteers, especially in the areas of evangelism within the walls and post-prison (re-entry) ministry for those formerly incarcerated and their families.

Direct the Colson Scholarship Program including recruitment of new scholars in coordination with Wheaton College.

Plan and lead an immersion experience (Spring Break or Weekend) for Wheaton College students.

Seek and secure additional funding for programming that augments the CMI endowment in cooperation with the BGC Executive Director and Wheaton College Advancement.

Support the mission and activities of the Center beyond CMI.

Serve as a resource for correctional ministry for the campus and appropriate faculty and staff.

Qualifications

Graduate degree in a related field.

Broad experience and knowledge of the correctional system and prison ministry.

Organizational leadership background.

Personal commitment to a lifestyle of evangelism and discipleship with new believers.

Experience and success in fundraising, preferred.

Physical Requirements

The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, or hear; frequently required to use repetitive hand motion, handle or feel, and to stand, walk, reach, bend or lift up to 25 pounds.
