Position OverviewPharmaEssentia has an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to establish the Patient Advocacy function within the Medical department. The Director of Patient Advocacy will be responsible for establishing and fostering impactful relationships with patient advocacy organizations in therapeutic areas relevant to PharmaEssentia’s pipeline and will ensure that the patient voice is amplified in the organization. This is a highly collaborative role that will involve close collaboration with various team members within Medical Affairs and across the organization including Clinical Development/Operations, HEOR, Regulatory, Commercial, and Corporate Communications. This position reports to the Head of Medical and can be located at our headquarters in Burlington, MA or work remotely from a location within the U.S. with the ability to travel to the Burlington office as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Represent the patient voice within PEC and represent PEC among patients and patient advocacy groups, engaging with community leaders in programming and awareness activities.

Set a strategic roadmap and action plan, defining the goals for PharmaEssentia to engage and advocate with community organizations, patients, care providers, and families.

Ensure that the patient perspective is at the center of all our efforts, integrating patient considerations into our activities and ensuring that we are meeting the expectations of the patient communities we aim to serve through our actions:

Keep abreast of new developments in patient advocacy to learn how to fulfill their needs and incorporate insights into Company strategic planning.

Lead key engagement programs such as disease awareness initiatives, advisory boards, patient speaker engagements, clinical trial planning, internal and external patient speaker events and policy.

Oversee grant and sponsorship requests and facilitate appropriate reviews.

Serve as a liaison for relevant insight generation and information sharing around our R&D development activities.

Work cross-functionally to develop patient insights for opportunities to support expansion into new indications.

The PersonEducation : Bachelor's Degree in science, social science or related field required, advanced degree preferred.Qualifications and Experience:

Minimum of 7 years of related experience, preferably in a commercial-stage pharmaceutical or biotechnology company.

Demonstrated commitment to Patient Advocacy Excellence and "Putting Patients First" mindset.

Prior experience working with or for patient advocacy organizations required.

Prior experience working with hematology or oncology organizations preferred.

Experience working in complex cross-functional team environments with numerous/diverse stakeholders.

Knowledge of drug development process from discovery through clinical development and launch.

Able to summarize complex medical and scientific concepts using common language to successfully communicate with patients.

Ability to work independently with strong organizational, prioritization and analytical skills.

Working knowledge of patient advocacy codes of conduct and regulations across major geographies, including guidelines governing patient advocacy as it relates to clinical research.

Understanding of guidelines and best practices for patient advocacy engagement in the US.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to influence without authority.

Ability to travel up to 25% to relevant advocacy meetings and congresses.
