We have an exciting opportunity for a communications specialist to contribute to marketing and media relations activities for its world-leading work in unmanned aerial systems. This position will be part of a small, talented, and hard-working team of communications and marketing professionals within General Atomics Aeronautical Systems reporting to its Senior Director for Marketing and Communications in Washington, D.C.

The ideal candidate will have experience within the defense and aerospace industry and broad expertise in the principles of marketing, a proven track record of driving positive social media engagement and demonstrated experience with collaborating and innovating. Knowledge about Defense programs, aircraft systems and military technology is a definite plus. Candidates with a background in social media engagement, marketing, communications, the news media and those from diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Contributes to the strategic communications team (including marketing, external communications, and internal communications functions) as well as the development of high-quality materials across a range of media and formats.Collaborates with the team to generate high quality, high impact social media and other creative collateral for GA-ASI.Contributes to and helps implement the strategic marketing plan; monitors progress, evaluates effectiveness, and makes adjustments as necessary.Provides strategic guidance for the planning and execution of successful marketing campaigns.Designs eye-catching materials supporting direct outreach marketing efforts to potential external customers.Analyzes and communicates results internally.Supports the broader marketing and communications team as needed with writing, image creation and editing, multimedia storytelling and novel engagement techniques to reach customers, journalists, influencers and other key audiences.Performs other duties as assigned.Maintains the strict confidentiality of sensitive information.Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.Job Qualifications:Typically requires a Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline and at least two years of progressive professional experience in a Marketing or Communications.Additional professional experience in Marketing or Communications may be substituted in lieu of education.Experience in working with people and successful project collaboration.Must demonstrate complete knowledge of Marketing and Communication principles and concepts; and a complete understanding of Marketing and Communication practices, techniques, and standards. Be a creative, strategic thinker with a passion for storytelling and the ability to adapt to changing markets.Must have a proven track record demonstrating strong marketing and public relations acumen.Must be able to organize, plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate workloads and staff to meet established deadlines or milestones.Must be customer focused and possess:Ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of complex management and administrative issues;Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills;Strong interpersonal skills to influence and guide all levels of employees; andAbility to represent the company and serve as a spokesperson on external projects and/or programs;The Ability to work on a self-initiated basis and lead in a team environment is essential.Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.The position is based in Washington D.C. but will involve occasional travel as assignments dictate.Salary:

$73,700 - $128,780
