Assistant Store Manager
sets the pace of providing excellent service and building genuine relationships with MM customers while assisting in leading daily operations. This role will assist with the overall development of a successful store team and set a leading example on how to drive revenue, grow repeat business, and maintain a strong book of business to meet store goals. Additionally, this role assists with hosting events and fostering relationships with local businesses. The Assistant Store Manager reports directly to the Boston Market Manager and works closely with the Supervisor. This role is based on-site in our Boston - Newbury Street store and is required to be in-person full-time. What will you do? Drive Revenue through Individual Selling (50%) Grow and develop our customer base through one-on-one interactions in person at our retail space with a focus on exceptional service. Be a leader; set an example for the store team by ensuring that customers are always given best-in-class service and that the store team operates effectively and efficiently. Set the example as an expert stylist; suggest and style products for your customers based on profiles and feedback, exemplifying for other stylists how to deliver exceptional service. Be a salesperson; understand the store’s performance and metrics and strive to reach goals. Strategize and take initiative to increase individual and store productivity. Acquire and build a client base through clienteling outreach and events; form relationships with new customers and grow the loyalty of existing customers. Support store goals by upholding and overseeing daily communication standards and strategizing outreach plans. Assist the Market Manager with Daily Operations and Team Development (50%) Act as manager-on-duty when the Market Manager is not on-site, setting the day with an energetic and optimistic pace. Lead opening and closing duties, and effectively delegate shopkeeping tasks to support productivity and team development. Assist with managing the daily schedule to drive business results and meet goals. Oversee the store clienteling systems, ensuring outreach goals are being met while identifying training opportunities to improve communications and relationships. Develop the stylist team by administering monthly performance touchpoints and implementing meetings to address training opportunities. Provide timely coaching and feedback to support growth and goal attainment. Support the Market Manager in hiring and retaining top talent within the store team. Actively participate in company calls and assist in leading store team meetings. Build a strong community of local event partners and neighboring businesses. Liaise with the HQ team to ensure information flows smoothly. Stay current on our merchandise, events, promotions, policies, and services. Support training and onboarding new store employees, working with the Market Manager to ensure training materials are up to speed and effective for successful team retention and development. Build relationships with local businesses and lead the team through community events. Support inventory management, merchandising, POS, and company procedures. Partner with the HQ Merchandising team to share product knowledge and training materials. Act as a role model and inspire the store team to improve their sales performance and hospitality skills, while facilitating a culture of empowerment, respect, and teamwork. Who are you? 1-3 year of retail/service experience; previous leadership experience preferred. Experience in training and working with people; you’re empathetic and thoughtful. You understand the nuanced difference between being a manager and being a leader. You are laser-focused on the achievement of sales and clienteling goals. You exhibit excellent communication, interpersonal, verbal, and written skills. You have a positive, can-do attitude! Nothing is above or below you. Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and scheduling/POS systems. Ability to be self-directed and comfortable operating with limited oversight You can work full-time (40 hours per week) including weekends and evenings. Physical Requirements: Position requires prolonged periods of standing/walking. May involve reaching, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and color vision. Frequent use of computers and other technology, necessary to perform job functions, including handheld equipment, cash register, and ability to process register transactions. Frequently lift/move up to 30lbs. Compensation: Base annual salary of $60-65,000 + monthly commission and semi-annual performance-based bonus incentives.
