Software Manager

to join our innovative product development engineering team at Spectra-Physics, which is part of the Lasers Business Unit of MKS Instruments. We push the boundaries of technology to develop a wide range of nanosecond, picosecond, and femtosecond lasers that address the needs of Industrial, Scientific, and Life and Health Sciences markets. In this position, you will contribute to the design and development of new free-space and fiber-based laser systems, providing firmware and software to enable new laser technologies. You will work collaboratively within a project team and use your communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional team members.What you will do is:

Manage the embedded firmware and user interface development teamDevelop and support innovative products that solve our customers’ most pressing challengesContribute to development of system architecture and behavior roadmapDefine and update version control, issue-tracking, regression testing, and code review proceduresDevelop specifications for appropriate product interfaces for customers, engineers, and technicians.What you will bring to the team, along with your curiosity, is:

Strong understanding of embedded firmware techniques and challenges, along with embedded operating systems experienceExperience with I/O devices such as ADC, DAC, and FPGA and interfaces such as I2C, SPI, RS232, USB, EthernetProficiency programming in C, C++, and C# using Keil IDE for ARM and Visual Studio for Windows GUI developmentDemonstrated expertise working in a product development and transfer-to-manufacturing environmentBS degree and 7+ years industry experience (or equivalent advanced education)Positive attitude for working with a diverse, dynamic, and multi-disciplinary teamIf you have familiarity with any of the following, please let us know:

Experience working with distributed teamsIndustrial laser productsPrecision equipment design and developmentPredictive Failure algorithms and associated enabling techniques for data collection and storageTransitioning a team to new proceduresSalary Pay Range: $111,900.00 to 207,900.00 per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
