Emory University School of Medicine's Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine seeks a Director of Anatomic Pathology / Surgical Pathology based at Grady Memorial Hospital. This renowned public academic hospital serves Atlanta and its surrounding communities. Grady’s anatomic pathology division handles approximately 14,000 surgical pathology specimens, 3,200 non-GYN cytology specimens, 8400 GYN cytology specimens, and 75 autopsies annually. Future growth is expected and adoption of Digital Pathology for primary diagnosis is on the horizon. .Responsibilities of this position:Cultivate a culture of collaboration, excellence, and continuous improvement within Anatomic Pathology (AP)Work with Grady’s CLIA director to ensure operations of Anatomic Pathology and Surgical Pathology are in accordance with CAP and other regulatory agenciesProvide supervision and mentorship to a team comprising 8 AP faculty membersProvide oversight of histology, immunohistochemistry, and gross room laboratories, working closely with technical staffAssist the Directors of Cytopathology and Autopsy with daily operations and quality measuresEnsure excellence in teaching medical students, residents, and fellowsApplicants must possess MD or MD/PhD degrees, be board certified in Anatomic Pathology, and be eligible for medical licensure in Georgia. The successful candidate will have a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in general surgical pathology and/or a subspecialty area and demonstrated leadership skills.
